I built this new rig about three months ago with a Supermicro 760A case and a ASUS P3v4x mobo. The red light on the back of the power supply stays on all the time while the computer is running. Is it supposed to stay on all the time or did I plug in something wrong on the mobo? I did not know if the red light meant that is was running or that it had a problem. There was nothing about it in their documentation I received or on their web site. Thanks.

Hmmmm, I don't think so! I have same case with ASUS P3BF-6 and PIII
600e cranked to 800. Only time I've seen that lite on is when I tried
140 bus speed. Everthing shut down and that lite came on ! Don't
know if it supposed to to that under those circumstances but I'm
glad it did ! Only other time I see that lite is at shutdown, it
then blinks on for a fraction of a second.

The power supply in my case is the Ablecom SP301-A (redundant fan)
Are you using the two pin connector off the supply labled
"ALARM SW" ? I am not as I don't know its exact function, or if I
can use it somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I had plugged in the "Alarm SW" wire into the mobo. I unplugged it and the light is no longer on. Now I am wondering like you where to plug this wire into. Thanks for the help.

Got a reply from Supermicro tech supp. The "ALARM SW" lead is for
a feature not yet implemented on "SUPERMICRO" mobos. Still, if I
knew if it was meant to "activate" something or be "activated" BY
something, via hardware OR software I might find a use for it. I'll
have to investigate the little piggy when I find some time.
