This guy was in counterstrike the other day and he had like 27 kills 2 deaths.....anyway I hid out waiting for him to come by and when he did I jumped in behind him and unloaded into the back of his head........he lost 10% of his life turned around and killed me!!!! WTF.....how could this be? his ping rate was also 0-2....does that mean he was running the server? and possibly have some parameters tilted in his favor? Also a while back someone said they get the best Pings on the East coast and mentioned MIT's server and one called NYunderground how do I go about finding the IP addresses for these servers without going thru the entire list?

The worst thing about this game are all the cheaters that ruin it for everyone else. I just recently started playing this and I do ok, but most of the time when I'm doing bad, I always end up thinking that there's someone cheating. I wish I could always know for certain that a person is doing good because of their skill, which I know there are many out there, but there's also many cheaters. The guy you were playing might have had the health trick on(infinite health or something like that) and then there's the wallhacks, the bots, the skin trick(where you look like a terrorist when you're actually a counterterrorist) and probably a bunch that I haven't heard of either. The best method you have right now is to probably use punkbuster. Use gamespy and enter 'PB' for the filter. This will get you servers that support PunkBuster. PunkBuster gets rid of some of the cheats, but more are always out there. Good luck in your fragging!
there is also the option of writing ur own cheats and using them against the people who are cheating.... just make sure yours are better.....
While there's a chance he was cheating, there's also a chance he's just really good too. I can't count the number of times people have ambushed me and gotten in the first shot yet I still end up killing them. Unless you're REALLY close, a large number of your shots will not hit the target, especially if you're going full auto instead of burst (really evident when using an AK).
Can someone tell me from their experiences what the best gun is out of all the ones available in counterstrike also are there any tweaks that I should know about that will benefit my efforts to try and stay alive
Well, as far as guns go, I would think it just depends on your style of play, mood, the level you're playing, and how much money you have.
If you're in the waiting mood, and you have lots of money go with the AWP Sniper rifle. Make sure you've found a few good sniping spots on the level before you do this though. Personally, I suck with this weapon, but I have played people that are incredible with it.
If you're in the up close, personal and pissed off mood, a level that has close quarter combat, and have a good amount of money, I usually like to go with the auto shotgun. I'm almost always guaranteed at least one kill when I use this weapon. Weakness is that you have to be pretty close and I've also gotten complaints from people saying that I was using the "noobcannon":disgust:
Soapbox: Why do people complain about this? Why would this game have this weapon if it is cheap or whatever? Equivalent to the lightning gun in Quake 3
If you aren't sure if you are going to get into a close encounter or far, the most versatile weapons, and you have enough money, then get the M4A1 if you're CT and the AK47 if your Terrorist. These guns are the best to use for any kind of distance, but the further your enemy is, make sure you do burst instead of automatic(tap the fire instead of holding it down). If you have a little more money than that, use the bullpup or the Krieg. These guns have a zoom option also.
If you have absolutely no money, but have enough for a big gun, get the smg. Not as good as the M4A1 or AK47, but still effective.
When I have no money at all, sometimes I'll just buy a Nighthawk handgun(best) and just go for the head shots and pick up a big weapon.
If anyone disagrees with this or has more info, I'm interested in what you have to say. Always looking for more pointers.

I have the same prob too,many gamers out there cheating.I thought I was too bad but they cheat......some ppl can even walk through wall.Cheats ruin online games.....must be something to stop it b4 it's out of fun!
I do run and only play in punk buster games now to eliminate any possible cheating or just minimize it as much as possible. Thanks for the info. pumpkinhead
I know there are still cheats with punkbuster but it improves the game immensely. Furthermore, usually people using punkbuster servers are there because they want a good fair game and are far more willing to vote kick the cheaters very quickly.
