It will be hard to compare both brands in general. Are there any model in particular that youd like to compare head to head.

Of the three Antec cases that you mentioned i'd pick the Sonata.I really dont go for the bling effect so the lanboy and the PC 160 is out.Now on the Lian Li side i would suggest the Lian Li PC-7B.Great case with a classic look and up to date cooling(120mm fans).

I have owned both an Antec Sonata and a Lian-Li V1000.. I seem to have better luck at cooling the Sonata because I had a 120mm-fan PSU that helped with the venting, so essentially I had two 120mm fans in the back of the Sonata blowing out and one 120mm fan in the front blowing in. In the V1000 the PSU does not help with venting the main case interior because the PSU is isolated in its own compartment. My case temps with the Sonata when I had my P4 3.0C system in there was 30C when room temp is 25C. In the V1000 the case temp was 32C.

Small difference, but every little bit helps I guess.

Check the link of the Lian Li if you like 120mm fans.

The quiet Sonata comes with a good PSU $ 120mm fan.The construction is also very solid.

The Modstream is also a good PSU though the cables i heard are a bit stiff thus it takes more effort to manage. If you think the Sonata is not for you look at the SLK3000B(since you already have a psu) Link here.

Also beware that the sonata comes with 1 120mm fan stock. You'll have to add the 2nd fan yourself. The 2nd fan is critical IMHO since it draws air directly over the drives.

I like the p160 but I own 3 sonatas and put all my new boxes in them at work. I guess I'll migrate to the newest antec in the coming budget year.

Good luck!

I have a new case project on the Sonata and I love it. Only flaw is I wish the second intake fan was moved ahead of the HDD cages instead on the backside. Even then, you can get good cooling even with just the 120mm exhaust.

Other then the enlarged intake area and the duct modifications, the Sonata 1 and 2 are not dramatically different. After some dremeling goodness, my Sonata 2 breaths just fine. I"ll have a worklog for it up soon.

Sorry man, i've looked around but all the Sonatas come with the PSU. Antec rarely ships cases without PSU's
