Do want.
I just prefer the E39 body style myself 😛

ive flip flopped more on my fave M5 more than I can remember but love for all things e39 is enduring!

Seriously its the gold standard by which all chassis's should be judged. E39 driven today still feels solid and fresh with better than new interior styling in the premium materials and bulletproof reliability.

Still gonna get me an E60 M5 someday just because of the engine.

Posting from the premium customer lounge at the BMW Welt. They have 3 kinds of beer and unlimited champagne at 9 am. Dogs everywhere here and owners take good care of them, pretty cool.

Took delivery of black/black. Saw a frozen white, very cool looking, though not sure i could properly take care of something like that. The F10 M5 is a technological leap forward from the E60 M5, especially in the small things. Can't wait to get working on it.

Today, there is a huge group of M5 deliveries, 25 in all from the US i believe. Everyone was surprised at the big number of customers ordering the orange interior.

Nice!! What interior did the frozen car have? How unique did the frozen pain look up close and did it look different from say a wrap?

Enjoy !

Sorry, forgot what interior, though I got the owner's business card. Paint much cleaner than wrap for those satin colors. Much more depth, and imho, a nicer compromise between gloss and matte. I'm a bit surprised, but the frozen white looks better than the frozen grey.

How does the factory pick up work for you since you live in the states? You get to drive the car from the factory to the port? You then fly back and pick up few weeks later when it gets to the port in the states or it gets delivered to your house?

Koing

Koing: that's about right.

The first step in the process is walking up to your car on a rotating turntable within the view of hundreds of BMW Welt visitors.

We need PICS!

Interesting. Looking the BMW website, I did not know that the new M5 could be ordered with a manual transmission as a no-cost option.

Well get pictures posted when i get back, took a bunch of them. Great experience, definitely worth doing.

Working on the pictures. Here's just a taste though.

BMW says to keep it under 4500 RPM for the first 1200 miles, so we stopped at 170 mph. The car pulls HARD. 🙂

Got back from our trip to Munich and sadly got food poisoning. FML.

Besides that, loved the trip. Here are a few of the pictures we took.

Elevator up to the Preferred Customers Lounge:

9AM and the lounge has 3 types of beer (all you can drink, of course), food, and cappuccino. Comfy chairs and couches, and fast/free internet (bizarrely difficult to find in Munich):

The Preferred Customer Lounge also has champagne in very nice Schott Zwiesel crystal flutes. Yes, flutes kinda suck compared to normal stemware, but I think they're going more for celebration than nosing:

The staircase down to the delivery area. On the upper left of the picture is the customer lounge, with the private customer balcony there in front:

Had to take picture of ours next to the Polizei M5:

A final look at the delivery corkscrew. I think they call it the victory lap? The customer lounge is at the top of this picture. The reception at the South entrance is at the bottom:

I waited a whole 60 miles before hitting 170mph. Unfortunately, BMW said to keep it under 4500RPM for the first 1200 miles, so 170 is all I could do.

It's amazing what a difference that speed is. At 170mph, you're not doing anything but concentrating, with your eyes fixed on the far horizon.

At 120mph, it feels comfortable an relaxed, like you can do it all day.

At 100mph, minivans pass you like you're standing still.

Nice! Did they show you the automated storage garage underneath BMW Welt? Did you have a chance to stop in any Munich Biergartens? Drink any Augustiner Bier?

Wow, to be able to afford a facility like that just shows how much luxury automakers like BMW are raping their buyers in the amount of profit one of these vehicles must be making them.

Have you seen the way those good folk that own your Wal-Mart live?

clearly you have no idea how important a place like this is for branding and image.

clearly you have a problem with Washington DC and all its marble right?

truly epic apex!

I would have probably driven 1200 miles in circles waiting to get legal access to the roads.
