Supercar Comparison Test: Audi R8 vs. Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper, Porsche Turbo

Streets of Willow is a tight, technical track. The times are interesting:

Viper - 1:15.59
Audi R8 - 1:15.69
Corvette Z06 - 1:15.74
997 Turbo - 1:17.17

I'll continue to go to Popular Mechanics for the latest military tech and car and driver for car comparos.

That data is off, and shows their driving experience with these cars. The Vette would run away at Willow if they knew how to handle it at its limits.

yeah i doubt the 997 would be the slowest... by 2 seconds!

In the article it stated the turbos did not remain spooled up on the track. With so much torque and the light weight of the Viper I'm not suprised it won. Most every comparo between Z06 and Viper, the Viper wins in pur speed and handling. The Viper is a better handling car than the Vette.

The 2008 Viper which will be out shortly and will also have 90 more HP and another 50TQ than the 2006 model, no 2007 Vipers ewre built. The new Viper may be a 10-second car.

I doubt that's the case at The Streets. You're thinking International.

The Z06 is already a 10s car...on DRs 😉

In the article they only ran a 12 flat in the 1/4 with a Z06. hahaha, these guys can't drive.

That all depends on the measuring conventions they're using, as well as other factors (track stickiness, altitude, etc).

Im skeptical of the whole because the turbos didn?t spool up. The new vector turbo wheels don?t even really need to spool up. Time difference if these times are correct are probably more attributed the lack of knowledge of how to drive the car. The other 3 are front engine rear wheel or all wheel drive cars. HUGE difference in handling and how you take corners from the rear engine Porsche. But I didn't read the whole thing, was it the same driver or specialized ones for each car? If specialized was the Porsche driver really good at rear engine cars?

EDIT: after reading more it looks like the drivers were not that good
