Superb Environment

This was all done by a single Crytek artist. What I wouldn't give to see a game with this level of detail.

I don't know if I have ever seen such convincing lighting, materials and texture use in a real-time game engine environment. Just gorgeous.

That certainly is beautiful. Does it go with something, or is he destined to be yet another talented but starving artist?

Crytek going into the Interior Decoration Simulation Software business?

I think for certain game-types, it's a very good approach.

"The Vanishing of Ethan Carter," for example, had interiors that approached this level of detail (albeit without dynamic lighting), which added an enormous level of immersion to the story, IMO.

You can get much better "screen-pic" results by using a renderer like VRay or MentalRay (as would be used for actual architectural or art-display 3D work), but the real artistry, as it pertains to gaming relevance anyway, is to create something like that with a real-time render that's playable.

These models are still baked down to low-poly, though they're obviously a good bit higher than your average game asset. I want to say I saw a similar environment posted where the in-game framerates were still over 30FPS, but I don't remember what kind of system.
