Santorum has had a complete inability to win outside of middle America. He hasn't been able to win a single coast state yet. There is no path for him to win the nomination. He has less than half the delegates Romney has. It would be hard enough for him to get enough delegates to beat Romney, but considering how ridiculously disorganized his campaign is, it will be impossible. He isn't even able to collect the delegates that he should be winning because he didn't get enough signatures or file the correct paperwork. Look at the entire state of Virginia for example, a state he could have done quite well; he wasn't even on the ballot there. Oops. All the Anti-Romney crowd can hope for at this point is to deny Romney the majority of the delegates and to force a brokered convention, which is highly unlikely as Romney has consistently held over half of the available delegates. Romney has won. He will be the nominee.

At this point I wish both major parties would end up with brokered conventions. They have a lot of sorting out to do. Going into the conventions with candidates preselected renders the conventions pointless as issues don't get aired or debated. The whole platform takes a backseat to the roo rah rah nonsense. A brokered convention might force the parties to figure out who the hell they really are and what they stand for.

don't you think we know that already? The purpose of the other candidates is to drag Romney so far to the right that he can't return without cementing his reputation as a flip-flopper. The difference between 2008 and 2012 is that in 2008 nobody knew Obama so having a dragged out process was good for him. With Romney, we've already seen him run before and he still has a hard time winning over the base and connecting with voters. He's a cold candidate in every sense of the word. Also, look at the states he's won (so far) tonight. Virginia (no one else was on the ballot. RP doesn't count); Vermont (the 2nd most liberal state after Hawaii); and Massachusetts (the 3rd most liberal state and where he was governor). These are not exactly returns.

seems pretty telling that the counties that border PA in Ohio are either breaking for Romney or just barely going to Santorum.

maybe the Ohioans should be paying more attention to how the people who actually know the real Santorum vote.

Governor Romney gave a victory speech in Massachusetts, telling the people there how glad he was to be home.

Didn't he tell the Michigan voters the same thing last week? I distinctly remember him prattling on about all the trees being the right height...

Damn, I was hoping that Santorum, alienating secular protestants (you know, imposing a Catholic Santoria), also for the general female electorate,you know, keeping women barefoot and pregnant, would be the dream candidate to run against the Democratic nominee. Instead, we'll get old meely mouthed Mittens, making his usual gaffs about how wealthy he is not.

I'm sure Rove will try to crank Jeff up for a brokered Repug primary since Cristy could'nt possilby lose 100lbs to be in the general. Yea, the days of Taft are over.

Karl Rove is preemptively calling Ohio for Romney... so, that just leaves Alaska outstanding.

I'm really surprised that Ron Paul hasn't been able to win a single caucus state. his delegate count tonight it, what? 12?

I've said from early on that Romney as the establishment choice for Republican candidate was far and away the favorite. Super Tuesday pretty much cements his win. His Vice Presidential choice will be someone that the Republican party feels will be able to deliver a toss-up state such as Florida, Pennsylvania or possibly Ohio.

Actually, MittBot is winning AK... with a gigantic, whopping 32.6% of the vote and 96% of precincts reporting.

Ricky Boy is in 2nd with 29%.

Caribou Barbie's influence is, as always, a figment of her own imagination. Newt is in last place and trailing Ron Paul by almost 10 points.

I think the question is now who Romney will run with. Santorum or Gingrich are on the other end of the 'Republican spectrum', and Ron Paul isn't likely to consider running for vice (even if Romney would consider him for that position).

So will he pick a liberal or moderate Republican, or will he try to appease the 'Republican Taliban' and pick an extremely conservative one?

Yes, it flipped at the end. I didn't notice the % reporting earlier.

Romney now at 415 delegates, almost halfway home to the nomination.

Santorum at 176, Newt 105 Paul 47

Stick a fork in the three Mouseketeers, they are done.
