Nice, seems like this should have been implemented sooner, although I suppose it would be hard to justify it on USB2.0 speeds, but now with USB3.0 essentially providing SATA-like bandwidth/performance its a pretty big deal.

Pretty exciting to think about the portability implications here, in the not too distant future we could be "lugging" around all our OS/apps on thumb drives instead of entire computers.

Well really with SATA3 expected to be native by Q2 12, it would be an easy jump to think you can carry around your entire computer on the drive and simply boot your entire encironment and programs.

To look at it from another angle, you could go to a kiosk and download full 1080p movies in a matter of seconds which would be valid for a number of days to view eheheh.

These drives are ssd controlled drives as it appears now...they are simply mini ssds.

Its actually a SSD in a USB. Consider the fact that once SATA III becomes native, you could actually contain your entire system on the flash drive and boot into your system from a different computer....
