The AOL Antivirus is free, and I can promise you that its better then anything Norton.

The reason PCMag rates Norton so high is because its for the laiman. ie. your mom

Norton seeks to control everything on your system, and if you ever try to get rid of it - you might as well just reinstall windows. Sure, the techno types will be able to remove the registry keys and deep found components of the software - but this software would never be used by those techno types. I would personally never use a "suite" of utilitiez. Even with how good Kaspersky Anti-virus is, and the latest 6.0 even replaces my spyware software, but their internet security is still lacking. Outpost/Kerio/Comodo, with the last also being free, are also superior to anything Norton

ok i have used all the different antiviruses and i can tell you norton 2007 is nice, still a little bit of a resource hog, but overall much better then anything they released previously, and as for removing it or ANY other version of norton there is a cool little tool right on symantecs page that removes all instances of their software including the 2007 versions. and no AOL antivirus is going to come close to the protection that norton kaspersky or even AVG will. before you dog on something you should get your facts straight.

Link for the removal tool

AOL antivirus IS Kaspersky. It's a free version.

I've been rolling out the AOL antivirus to computers without protection and it seems to work well so far.

This man speaks the truth. I think it is missing some features, but it is Kaspersky anti-virus with AOL branding on it.

From a retail view. These rebate cards are a scam. I have never seen anyone use the hole card. So if you are lucky you get about 98% of the rebate.

Just use like a CC, when used up, use your CC or cash. What's the problem?

This deal is for the antivirus package only, not the "internet security" suite. It's a hot deal IMO, you can count on frequent updates and a solid scanner. I still prefer the Symantec CE 10.0 for the best protection out there, but it's only available under a corporate license....too bad.

Some of the rebate cards can't be split with other cards. Some of the cards will no let you zero the balance. Granted this could be the system I'm working on but it's not fun looking at a person when to tell there card is useless.

They'ld have to pay me back for:

(1)money I spent on several earlier editions of Norton products

(2)emotional distress from the "pay us first, then we'll help you" customer service

(3)personal time and equipment wear and tear from the umpteen reformats just complete the easy uninstalls of aforementioned Norton products

(4)botched reputation with other traders who bought the aforementioned Norton products from me.

Never again....
