Lizard lick really ticked me off. The estimated wait was 2 weeks but after a month I cancelled my order and ordered from some shop in Japan and got my stuff in a little over a week.

I understand the demand was high but their estimated time was way off. They were cool about cancelling though so maybe I'd order from them in the future.

The reasons I re-ordered from them after such a bad experience was because the owner would occasionally post to a thread that was made about his garage-based business over on SRK. He was always sincere and apologetic, so I could relate to what he was going through. He was basically a one-man operation who had a day job and did this in his spare time. SFIV released and he got more orders than he could have ever anticipated. I know at one point he was talking about quitting his day job just so he could keep up with the orders, but I'm not sure if he ever did that or not. He also tried hiring workers to help him pack, but he couldn't keep anybody longer than a day.

In addition to that, his prices were dirt cheap compared to anybody I saw at the time, so I just waited it out. For what I wanted to order, it was like $30 shipped from him compared to $45+ from anybody else.

Amazon is doing preorders and they are offering delivery on the day of release.

Yep, ordered mine awhile back ago and they changed my delivery date from April 30th to April 27th. I'm also getting a $10 credit from them with my purchase. Hard to pass up that deal.

Is there such a thing as a "learning stick"? I want to get an arcade stick but since I'm so terrible I don't want to drop mad paper on a pro stick. Just need something better than the 360 controller.

The cheapest you can probably pay is ~$50 for a Hori Xbox360 Fighting Stick EX 2

The Madcatz SE Fightstick is also $50, but the joystick itself is widely regard as junk, and I wouldn't bother unless you want to replace it yourself (added extra cost...)

The Madcatz Tournament Edition Fightstick is $100 and features all of the best parts you can get inside the joystick. Incredibly robust, and worth the money. If you foresee yourself playing fighting games on a regular basis, do yourself a favor and get this stick and avoid the others.

if you think you are going to seriously play and try to get good, definnitely get the 3rd one that fatpat linked. the TE uses actual arcade parts from japanese arcade cabinets. it also is a great lap stick if you like to sit with the joystick on your lap. personally i like to put it on a table and play, but i've used TE's before on my lap and they are comfortable.

there is also a new version of the TE stick that is out (or coming out with ssf4) that is $150, but it uses the same exact parts as the original TE. the only difference is the artwork.

if you grew up with arcades and fighting games in the arcade, then the cheaper sticks will feel like absolute garbage. at the same time though, the japanese sticks feel a lot different than american sticks, but after using my japanese one i can't go back to the american sticks, and ESPECIALLY the american buttons.

and fuck, i'm tempted to buy a TE since they are only $100...

Shameless plug since you're looking for a better 360 controller option:

Selling my HRAP EX-SE (the newest version with all Seimitsu parts) in the FS forum. I've used both it and a SFIV TE stick, both work well but the Hori works better for me personally.

Sounds about right since SF4 was leaked about a week before release date as well.

Man I'm going crazy looking for the perfect +40" HDTV to buy for this game.

You will probably want a Plasma then. Panasonic make good ones.

i been playing it tonight a bit...

it's definnitely faster than sf4 which is a good thing IMO. only new characters i have messed with is dudley and dee jay. im liking dee jay and think i will probably make him my 2ndary.

on another note, i ordered a new 360 today from amazon for $159, hope i get it by the time ssf4 comes out next week though cause i cant wait to play this online. offline just isn't that fun.

i complete all of dee jay, dudley, and balrogs trial challenges. they were not too tough, some of dee jay and dudleys were, but did balrogs in like 5 minutes heh.

i've noticed some minor things here/there as well with balrog that seem a tad different, but so far it's been character specific. cody has an odd hit box.

I thought it was majority opinion that a plasma is the LAST thing you want when playing games.

Nope, plasmas make for great gaming displays. Well, let me be a little more specific, Panasonics would be great for gaming. Samsung are nice too but they are more susceptible to IR.

I game on both of my plasmas and wouldn't trade them in for any LCD on the market.

Correction, Pioneer Elite monitors > *. ;) But if you wanted something smaller, I agree, evo monitors are awesome for modern LCDs. Of course the reference gaming monitors are the old Sony Trinitrons and Mitsubishi Diamontrons but those are pretty small (relatively speaking), WAY too heavy, and lack the new connections (HDMI). I actually felt bad when I got rid of my Sony G500. :(

yea the thing i like about the evo monitor as well is that when i go to get togethers i can just bring it with me easily cause it's pretty portable.

i'm actually bringing it to a gathering tonight, so tonight will be my first chance at actually playing ssf4 multiplayer.

had some good sessions last night, but didn't use the new players TOO much because there were some top level players there and I wanted to try and level up my rog. played flash metroid a bunch and marn was there too but i didn't face him. he was owning with juri though, and other than viper, flash metroid was doing really nice with cody.

i'm really liking cody and dee jay though. i think i'm reallly going to try and pick up cody, as i don't really play any non-charge characters, and he has a lot of great tools. he has a GREAT anti air special move (his sliding kick pointing upwards), and all around has a great offensive tactic. honestly watching flash metroid play as cody made me want to try and pick him up cause he was doing some really nice stuff with him.

dee jay feels familiar to me sine i used to use him and he is a charge character, so i will continue to use him.

can't wait till this shit really comes out next week so i can hop online and start playing!

I actually watched that stream last night for a few hours. Didn't know you were there. Main things I noticed were the massive Fuerte U2 damage and the ease of landing Chun's U2(not much damage though)

yea iNerd's basement, i played on the stream early on as the rog against dhalsim.

i dunno wtf it is but on a crt i have issues with this game. not sure if it's the 4:3 or that there is absolutely no lag, but i have to get warmed up on it before i can start doing well.

i think i went 1-3 when on the stream. other than those i didnt play on the crt, played on the asus monitors that we had setup instead cause that's what i'm used to.
