I've got a question about how these hook up to the TV and wanted to see if anyone that has (or had) these systems knew the answer. On the back of the SNES, there's an output called "Multi-Out." On the back of the N64, there's an output that looks the same as the one on the SNES (not sure if it says "Multi-Out," though) that is how you hook up the N64 by default. Basically, what I want to know is if I can use that N64 hookup to hook up the SNES? Anyone know?
 
IIRC, they are basically the same concept, but the connectors are different shapes and the pin-outs are different as well.

Are you sure? I stuck the N64 connector into the back of the SNES and it seemed to fit. I don't want to destroy anything, though.

The reason I'm asking about this is because I don't know what happened to the RF connector that came with the SNES.

 
Multi out if i remember correctly was the 3 RCA cables (video, R and L sound channels). This was superior to using an RF switch that most systems used during those days.

As far as i know, the SNES and N64 output's are NOT the same. However, the N64 and the Gamecube use the same plug.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

sorry buddy but you're wrong. i use the SNES cable for both consoles.
 
Just an update for those of you that have any interest. I haven't actually done it yet, but one of my friends is a Nintendo guru and says that it will work. For anyone that cares... Hehe.
 
It works, I switch my svid cable between the two all the time. Although I dont do it with N64 and SNES, I do it with my GC and SNES.

 
I was like "WTF?" after all these responses so I checked it out and indeed it is the same. I was thinking Dreamcast instead of N64. Sorry.

If it physically fits in the hole, try it. AV analog signal interface is pretty tough. Usually it isn't damaged by misconnection. This isn't true for many other situations though. If you have a set of unknown connectors(you have no idea of its function), simply hooking it together with converter cable in a light you'll get some result can be disasterous. Same with power connectors. There are passive adaptors that will let you plug in North America plugs into European/Asian plugs and these are designed for laptop power supply rated for 100-240V. If you connect 120V only equipment into 230V through these passive adaptors, you'll most definitely smoke it in three seconds(or less)...
