Nice. This is cheaper than the Alienware which was about same specs.

Edit: Only downsides to the Vostro is that it doesn't have real graphics like the m11x and it doesn't have a replaceable battery (with relatively low battery life)

Edit: Edit: So the m11x is $150 more. You get: longer battery (although neither the m11x or vostro are replaceable), graphics, and a smaller screen size. The vostro is $150 less, less battery life, crap graphics, bigger screen, thinner laptop.

For me the vostro is ideal for anybody who doesn't care about mobile gaming or high def video and such. I.e. a more powerful netbook. If you're interested in the other stuff the m11x makes sense then obviously.

Apparently the HP is gone already.

And it sure would be nice to not have to wipe a machine the moment you get it to not have "security" software. It'd be nice if you had the option to not have that junk pre-installed like they give you for MS Office.

Still, that dell is tempting....It's got the mobile broadband card that I wouldn't use. But you can use the gps functionality of it without a contract. 🙂

Wow, that's $50 less than what I paid on Dell Outlet with 25% coupon for a Latitude 13, and the V13 is better (2x HDD size, webcam).

Note that some people are disappointed with battery life.

Yeah, the battery life is what is keeping me away (and making me want the m11x which ebay has another $50 coupon for).

I added 4GB for $30 and a $15 11.6" bag. Time to replace my aging IBM x40.

I went to Microcenter and tried one out, pretty good keyboard, multitouch trackpad (although a little small, but I have small hands) and great little speakers.

Was running Windows 7 pretty fast, although I'll probably put an SSD in it.

Thank again OP, the AT community has put a dent in my wallet yet again 🙂

And for anybody who wants to know more about the dm1z: http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/17/hp-pavilion-dm1z-with-amd-fusion-review/
