Anyone ever have this thing that says, sure there?s things that I have to do! ++ they have to be done soon OR ELSE!! You develop the "I don?t care" attitude, and just coast.

Example: I finish High School, top 34 of my class. I get into college, I miss over 15 hours (so far) of class time. I missed lectures, and even a test. With all of the worry in the world "oo will I get back on track" *bites finger nails*

Also, I haven't study'd at ALL. Midterms next week, and all I've done is hw, hw HW!!

It's this damn computer I tell you, a family of op. flashpoint players i've played with for 6+ years in the evenings.. plus all these 20+ games... at my finger tips.. but required to stay on pc for some assignments.. I know I should be studying hard and working.. but the drive is not there anymore!! Has anyone experienced something like this? and what did you do to rid yourself of these disease?

I didn't do anything. I skipped about 50% of my classes. You just have to know what you can skip and what you can't.

----Thing is, I'm paying for my education.. and even after dishing 1000s away on it.. I still have no drive. I have a small intro to unix assignment due in 8 minutes.. but I dont even understand the directions.. :( I feel like a retard..
----speaking of retard.. my brother is (mentally) 2 years slower than the kids his age (he's 16).. and even he's more organized than me.
----I have a messy room with beverages/plates everywhere, a back that loves to sloutch.. so I'll have backpain when I'm older..
----I have a long term memory of 1 day..
----I don't party or even talk to anyone at college.

Its funny too b/c I'll think about all of this stuff.. worry about it.. but then see Company of Heroes/Operation Flashpoint on my desktop and say "ooo!" and forget about everything..

you cant fix it. it's a habit you've developed. think how long it took to develop that habit. it'll take about 1/2 that time to overcome it.

you're doomed this semester, (and maybe next. )

but good news: grades dont matter. just the degree. 'D' for diploma

That's why I left my uber comp at home :D My little bro is more responsible than I am so I left it with him. As for super lazy syndrome... sometimes you have to feel its effects before you can properly counter it~ Also, I suggest reading first then doing homework. Unless it's very straightforward like math.

You're a pure nerd. Stop wasting your life and get your ass into gear.

Clean your bedroom, reformat your PC, get a wash and a shave, and go to bed before 1am. Eat healthy, drink lots of water, get out in the sunshine, make some friends, and STUDY.

Your problem is that you're basing your daily actions off emotion. You don't feel like it probably because (1) you stay up too late every night, (2) you don't eat well, and (3) you're behind in your classes and the stress is catching up with you. Start going to bed earlier and devote yourself to living by this simple principle:

Work first, play later.

When you get home from school, do your work first and play later (TV, games, surfing the net, chatting on ATOT, etc.). If you live by that principle, you will be fine.

Are full time college student's supposed to not have any lives? If I formatted my pc, what ever shall I do after I come home from school/work?..Perhaps study, but what after study? More study? *falls face first onto floor*

Is it "better" to watch television instead of addicting video games? Due to the nature of how boring things can get? I'm probably not going to meet any people here @ college.. at least this semester.. as we are already in it 6 weeks and I havent talked to anyone.. (Dont care really, have a band at home.. tis all i need :D)

still, argh i have this hidden motivation that agree's with all of you.. but somethings holding me back!

True. I do stay up very late on occasion. Hence me not waking up to an alarm, missing early morning classes.. and thus adding to my stress level.. thus being tired = less motivation.. + not doing study/hw when I get home..shooting first asking questions later.. I've been up already 24 hours.. trying to finish some hw with the extra time I had by staying up.. but now im beat.. and still have a full day to go.. and a job to go to..

Off to class 2 rooms down the hall, be back to check on it during my hour long breaks between classes.. (is that even a good idea? having 1-2 hour breaks between all classes?)

I'm assuming this is your first year at college?

college is all about having fun. fvck, my first year all the kids on my hall and I ever did was go out and party. your first year is all about meeting new people every night and then when they say "hi" to you the next day you reply with a "wtf? i don't remember"

dude, seriously: get out and meet people! you'll enjoy your college experience a whole lot more if you do. just sitting in your room all day playing video games = lame.

and back on track as toward your motivation: I think JEDI said it best when he said that it's a habit. Becuase that's exactly what it is. You've probably had this work ethic all through your life.

Take myself for example: I was voted class procrastinator back in HS. Well, it stuck in college. I'm very good at putting sh!t off until the last second. It will never stop, because it's a habit, I've just had to learn how to deal with it and try my hardest to start my work before-hand.

Full-time college students can certainly have lives. I'm a full-time college student, I work part-time, I'm married, and I still have time to play. Work first, play later. College isn't for everyone, but unless you want to be working at McDonalds for the rest of your life, it's a good option to consider. I'm not saying that McDonalds is the only option, but your career choices are seriously limited if you don't get that piece of paper.

If you really want things to change, try this for the next three weeks:

1. Go to bed at or before 10:00pm
2. Eat 3 regular, healthy meals a day (i.e. not soda and cheetos)
3. Work first, play later

Can you publicly commit to doing that? Try it out, report in here every day after you've finished your homework, and see if it does anything for you.

pick up a coke habit...you'll have so much energy that you'll eventually have to spend some of it doing what you're supposed to

Its cool too, you can even do it underwater with a glock.

Anyways, I'll try the 3 week thing. Any suggestions about my class order? Currently:
Have a class _ Have a 1 hour break
Have another class _ have a 1 hour break

Bad strategy? Better to be home everyday at 1pm? Perhaps work earlier and be done with school/work together before 5pm allowing a study block time?

Looking to change it for next semester.

Depends on what you're doing for those 1 hour breaks. If you're using that time to get work done so you can play later at home, then fine. If you're using that time to relax or play some more, then yeah, you should cram your classes together.

Responsibilities suck... but they've got to be done. If you don't learn it now, real life's gonna creep up on you soon and smack you in the back of the head. Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy who has been a hardcore computer gamer since the early 80s, so I understand the addiction. Almost ruined my marriage.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Discipline, man. Gotta learn it. Or don't. It's what separates the men from the boys.

Best of luck to you.
