Super Lan Boy for 39.99AR @crapusa

Nice deal on a good case. Seems Antec is wanting to get rid of a lot of these cases because Fry's had these on sale a about two weeks ago for the same after rebate price.

I have this case too, just got it recently. A tad cramped, but nice construction & quiet/cool. I'm happy with it.

Love the case except three things which are preventing me from giving up my 3700BQE. Pretty thin aluminum, rattling hard drive rails, and no intake filter.

Thinking of grabbing another, but this would be $60 AR with tax and shipping. I'd rather have two SLK1650s. 😉

??? Mine has rubber grommets that connect to the bottom of the hard drive (instead of the usual side mount), so there shouldn't be any vibration noise from HD's in this case, at least it should be very minimal and much less than your typical case I'd presume. I've not noticed it at all.

BTW, here's some pics of the case courtesy of Newegg - Link

Also, often lately links are messed up for me on this forum using Firefox, anybody know why?

They have been looking like this - (doh now they're ok, but they show part of the link instead of the link text like it's supposed to, not sure what triggers the error)

Why couldnt they of called it Super Lan MAN....Super Lan BOY just sounds gay....I like the case but the name just makes me want to stay away.

New line coming out I would assume. Took long enough.

I'm sure Microsoft would sue them. "LANMan" is the name of an old network protocol by MS.

Hard drives bays are mounted sideways and yes, there are 2 120mm fans included....also lighter than a beer can (I know alot about this)......this one's a no brainer.....

I dont want to drive to the nearest Compusa, so I'm going to ship one.. 🙁 oh well thats $15 off.

edit- I'd spent that much in gas going to and fro anyway (always a bright side!)

Hey Navid, see if they can rain check/order you one. I read that somebody asked the manager to do it on the P160 deal before this one and they had no problem with that....You have to pay up front but you can still send all the rebate info in.....

I have this case and I agree it's a great case, the brushed aluminum looks great, it has two 120mm super quiet fans, great airflow and cooling, side mounted hard drive cage with rubber grommets is a big plus, and very good quality construction. The minor negatives are that it's very thin aluminum so the case is not that sturdy (don't sit on it), and the hard drive rails have a slightly loose fit when inserted into the cage, so they vibrate a little. But overall a good product, especially for $40.

Best part is the word "LANBOY" is nowhere to be found on the case....at least Antec knew better than to do that........

Cramped? NO WAY!!! I love this case to death... Put your Hard drives in backwards... no cables showing, I have only one complaint and that is that the toolbox gets stuck sometimes. Put in some 74cfm thermaltake 120mms quiet as a breeze at 24dBa. I mounted the fans with rubber washers, and put on a fan mesh in the front. I had to dremmel the front closure cause of my stupid sony DVDburner with its obnoxious unflat front panel. I have 4 hard drives in stalled 2 DVD bruners, and I could fit another CD-rom and HDD EASY!!! Lots of room.

Cramped as in I couldn't put my CDRW drive in the bottom 5 1/4" bay or it would hit my RAM sticks on the motherboard when it was in it's proper position (flush with front of case). Among other things, IMO it's a tad cramped from the mid-tower I was coming from.

The tray the hard drive connects to rattles because it's not a tight fit with the surround enclosure. This has been documented by plenty of review sites. Not a problem if you have a magic hard drive that doesn't vibrate or if you're up for some sorbothane modding or even jamming some folded paper in there to tighten things up. The SLK3700, and, I assume all steel Antec cases with this sideways drive configuration, do not suffer this flaw.
