An assistant cheerleading coach at Shelbyville High School has been arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Megan Crafton, 22, Indianapolis, turned herself into police on Friday with her attorney's assistance, said Lt. Mike Turner of the Shelbyville Police Department.

Police first learned in February of a possible relationship between Crafton and a male student, Turner said, and conducted a "long investigation looking into all the evidence in the case."

Crafton bonded out of jail the day of her arrest, Turner said.

Crafton admitted to police that she performed oral sex on a member of Shelbyville High School's boys basketball team in January, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The teen-ager told police the incident occurred in Crafton's vehicle while the two were in the parking lot of a Shelbyville grocery store, the document states.

Crafton faces a felony charge of child seduction and is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Shelby Superior Court.

A call to the law firm representing Crafton -- Indianapolis-based Roscoe Stovall Jr. and Associates -- was not immediately returned.

Administrators at Shelbyville Central Schools declined to comment on the matter. A secretary for Superintendent David Adams said he did not want to interfere in a criminal investigation or ongoing legal matter.

This is dumb. Common-sense fail.

Completely agree. She's not a teacher, nor did she uh, coach him (in cheerleading :awe:). That's why I said I thought it was ridiculous. Soo dumb.

She looks cute....I don't quite understand why these young decent looking female teachers can't seem to get any action from men their own age or who aren't their students. My guess is that they like all the attention and power just like older men do with younger vulnerable women.

If I read that right, it said she turned herself in?

If the guy was smart couldn't he be all, "I have no idea what you are talking about officer."?

It likely means "there was a warrant for her arrest, so she turned herself in rather than go away in cuffs."
