You couldn't pay me to take an ECS motherboard...they're the new PC Chips. If you value stability and reliability, you'll build your system around a different brand of motherboard. (I've had good results with FIC, Biostar, MSI, and Asus, and passable results with Tyan and Intel (not that you're going to run a recent AMD processor on any recent Intel motherboard :D ). There may well be other reputable vendors; these are just the ones I've used that I can recall off the top of my head.)

The MB I think only takes duron or Tbird and PC133 ram No XP. that case with 450 PS for $25 to cheap for case. good very low budget system for $99 only $10 for shipping not bad.

The main drawback I see is this will support only Duron processors according to the ecs manual.

The reviews on newegg for this board are only positives. I have built a couple of systems using the k7s5a and are running very stable.

I have a couple of people who want a cheap system. I might be ordering a couple of these babies

Thanks for the deal!

EDIT/ I can't seem to find anthing as far as ratings on these guys. has anyone ordered from them before?

I believe that there's no such thing as a Duron 1200+. The "+" system was only used starting at the XP line. This is most likely a Duron 1200 MHz.

EDIT:
Or maybe it's an 850MHz. See DAPUNISHER's post below.

"The reviews on newegg for this board are only positives."
i thought they only allowed positive reviews as part of policy... has something changed?
i'd buy this if i had the money -- looking for a setup to just toss components into

Avoid this like the plague... you see the "built in" duron right????? You cant upgrade it at all......

Here is a link to user reviews of this board and it looks like several for this particular combo, and it looks like they trick the bios to say it's a Duron1200+
rolleye.gif
and it's actually an 850mhz Duron :disgust: and since it's the v.3 board I'd stay away from this combo as well. However, I've used the K7SEM for builds of several workstations for business clients and they are all still running strong with 1ghz Morgans in them and the board has good dvd playback and I even played Aliens vs Predator2 on one with no issues with the settings turned down, they also work well as DC crunchers. In the end though this combo deal is most likely the 850 as 1200+ scam.....

To the person that asked,
Is the motherboard any good? Comments on the config would be appreciated!
I bought this board with "integrated" Duron CPU in it from another company a while back.
I paid $ 84.00, shipped, for the ECS K7 SEM board, with a Duron 850 cpu, integrated into
the board, with hsf ( no case ). It is "XP" meaning will show up as a Duron 1200xp during boot up.
It runs well, I was ok with it. Pertaining to this deal, looks like you get the board, cpu,
and a case with psu, for $ 99.99 plus shipping. IF shipping is only about $ 10.00, I think
this is a good deal. BUT, be warned! You may not be able to upgrade the board with
a faster cpu. The ECS K7 SEM board with cpu I got, has warranty stickers attached to the cpu/hsf, warning you if you remove them, it voids the warranty. I'm not sure you can even remove the cpu, I didn't look close enough at it when I installed it.

Just putting in my "two cents". :)

AMD 1200+ Duron

This deceitful product should go away.

If you bought one, and are unhappy with it, let the vendor know, and let yourself be heard on Resellerratings.com.

This keeps showing up as a hot deal, and we have to warn people again that AMD never made an "AMD 1200+ Duron" or a Duron 1200XP.
