I've found that I actually same more using cheap gas from some no-name station (my suv doesn't care) and save 1% than pay the inflated prices from Shell and BP and save 5%...

Here in Champaign IL Shell's typically about 10-15 cents more expensive than if you went a few blocks to the Urbana Speedway...

But I'll keep my eyes peeled...

That sucks. This is my primary card. Does anyone else know of any other type of GAS rebate card with the same types of benefits?

It's not on the bill, there's a white piece of paper that says "Important News for Shell Credit Cardholders from Chase" that came along with your bill.

Thanks.

I think if enough people complain about the termination of this 5% discount, Shell will eventually realize that it is in their own interest to keep offering this deal. I was going to get their card, but will not now. Just call and complain, maybe they will set up a personal deal or something?..

I agree. I've been a member since 1994. I love my monthly free gas!! Bastards!!

The real bummer is the BIGGER picture.

Gas prices are going to skyrocket. Chase is just backing away as soon as possible to avoid the huge hit.

Hilarious. You are concerned as to whether it is a repost but you have no problem slapping a not hot title on it and posting it in the hot deals forum.

I got my card at 1994, too. That's how shell or chase treat their loyal customer.

Whats your point, moron?

It's here because the Shell rebate was a hot deal, and therefore this notification is hot deal related.

If you have BP/Amoco in your area, check out their rebate card: FirstUSA Double rebates for first two months, then 3%/1%

If this works on discount warehouse gasoline (e.g. Costco), that would easily make up for the 2% difference between the old and new programs.

I like the new better than the old. Shell was generally 1 to 2% higher than others....

the Mobil/Exxon card is pretty good.. sorry I dont have a link, use google, but I have it and they give you 3% back on your next statement (no waiting for rebates, no minimum back) for all exxon/mobil purchases, and they also give you 1% back for all other purchases. The online interface is good, you can even schedule it to pay your balance every month.

Check out the new Chase Freedom Card that is replacing the current Chase Shell Mastercard:

Link

Looks like you still get 5% rebate on gasoline purchases but you can buy any brand of gasoline you choose!! So this is super hot!!!

From now until March.31st, 2003 you also get an extra 1% back on your gasoline purchases so that makes it a total of 6%!!

This is definitely better than the old card!
