Super-Duper Mini Cooper: John Cooper Works-tuned Mini puts the emphasis on ?Works?

$4500 hundred seems like an aweful lot for 37 horses and some gear modifications.... But that's just me.
 
Super Duper Uber Mini Cooper 😛

Ingredients for the über-Cooper include a supercharger with revised gearing that gives it more whiz and boost. There are also some reworked low-friction internals: hotter cams, a keener ECU, and a shiny new silencer on the muffler aims to reduce exhaust back pressure. Other than a discrete ?John Cooper Works? badge, that?s the limit of the changes. The pack can be installed on a new car or retrofitted onto an existing car.

$4500 tacked onto $18,500 of a base Cooper S doesn't sound so bad to me. I'd take it over any other pocket rocket out there.
 
It says that it is available for the standard Mini as well. Though it doesn't mention a price for that version. If it is similar in price, and identical in performance, you can lower the cost some more.

2400lbs makes the Mini one of the lightest vehicles on the U.S. market. I believe only the Toyota MR2 Spyder and Mazda Miata are lighter - and not by much. The MR2 weighs around 2300lbs and the base 5-spd Miata just a hair over 2400.

Your '92 Jetta also doesn't have such nice features are dual front, side and head airbags, side guard door beams, '03 spec safety compliance, 5-MPH bumpers, '03 spec emissions standards, or even the robust structure of a MODERN Mini Cooper S.

POOR COMPARISON!!

'03 Jetta = 2900 - 3,000 lbs
 
That's funny. You mention nice features then you contradict it by saying airbags all over the damn place. I am glad I have no airbombs in my car. As for your robust structure when a Mini has been through what my car has let me see how it is holding up before you say that as fact.
 
Not bad, but why does it say $30k est? Its build quality is better than the srt4, but we all know that if you can get this for $23k minimum and the srt4 for $20k + 3k in mods the srt4 still spanks it!

BTW, the Mini has been tested as one of the safest small cars on the road. Can't say the same for an 11 year old Jetta who structure have been weakening since day one and is surely not as stong today as it once was.

No problem. I have seen MK II Jettas go through worse. When I was a VW mechanic one of the owners rolled his and it survived and so did he. When I was in an accident a little over a month ago I received no injuries because there were no airbags. If I would have had an airbag go off I would have been hurt.

Hate to say this but they are both quite ugly and atleast on the srt-4 you can remove the spoiler and make it slightly less ugly 😉.

Remove the wing, and it looks like a Enterprise Rental Car Neon with some rims on it and a bad nose job😛
