I am new here and I was wondering if anyone here can think of anything that I might be missing from this computer or should change about it. (by the way I am designing this for fun)

As for the rest, I think you're overdoing it a bit ;). - And the plasma hdtv, frankly no. :)
Vapo chills too are a LOT of mess with startup/boot issues and condensation. It might be worthwhile for a an unlocked FX, but with dual Opterons and registered ram, no thanks.

I would also definitely get a SCSI setup with that kind of money and PCI-X 64 133MHz available! Why mess with Raptors or 4-way SATA?

(I wouldn't bother with SLI either. ;) )

Yes you are getting a server mixed up with a bleeding edge computer.

#1 What in the hell are you doing with a TT PSU in a computer like that. That thing will choke just looking at it. This is one of those computers that i would only use an OCZ 600Watt or a PCP&C unit. Nothing less not even the 520 OCZ.

#2 You do not need phase change, and water cooling. You are running Opterons which are LOCKED. Overclocking is not going to happen too much on them. Just get to nice HSF's.

#3 Again you are confused as to what you are doing. Why are you getting dual Quadrio cards. If you are gaming there is NO reason to get Quadro cards. The Quadros and FireGL's are not meant for gaming. If you are making a game than that is something different.

#4 I completely agree with Zee. With that system why are you messing with SATA. YOu should be using 15k RPM SCSI drives running off of the PCI-X 64bit bus. SCSI is WAY above the Raptors.

#5 You are still confused with Bleeding edge and server computer. Why would you be getting low latency RAM that is unregistered. You need registered memory for this board as has been stated. Also there is no point in wasting money on that memory. Read Zebo's memory guide.

Before I go on why dont you tell us what you plan on doing with this system? I mean are you gaming or designing, are you playing or making. Is this going to be a sever or a workstation. A lot of this is just wasted money.

Personally i think before you tackle something like this you should build a basic computer. It looks to me like this is your first time building a computer. Maybe you should put this on hold until you get more experience.

Yeah, I'm wondering what he's going to do with this also?

Watch him come out and say multitask video editing, in which case the intel would wipe the floor.

Oh wait, he said designing for fun. The system above blurs the line between gaming machine and server. My system has some server parts being SCSI, but it's still a game machine at heart.

Like I said earilier, I am just DESIGNING (not building) this for fun. I was trying to DESIGN (in my imagination I was not concerned about money) a computer that would be too powerful for everything, such as graphic designing, home theater, gaming, overclocking (except I didn't know that opterons were locked), code compiling, and a server. I was going with the TT PSU because I thought that was the most powerful out there.

B.T.W., I am not arguing with anybody, I have learned a lot from this forum since I joined (yesterday). Thanks everybody who as written in, and everybody who writes in after this message too!:thumbsup:

Not to be rude but if you thought TT is the best out there you need to buld a regular computer first. Dont rush into this, computer design and building can be immensly fun (and money consuming :p ) but you cant rush it!

You are trying to build a computer that will be "too powerful for everything" !?!? That makes no sense. You cannot build one computer that is the best at everything. Hardware is optimized to do certain things that is why the Quadros stink at gaming and the Geforces stink at Video editing (same goes for Radeons and FireGL's)

You need to focus on one thing. What do you want to do the most? Game, CAD and Design, HT, server, or OCing? You cant choose them all there will be trade-offs.

If you choose which one you really want and a close second after that im sure people here would be more than happy to give you advice, but you cant build a system that is good at everything.

Dude, did you miss the part where he said he was designing it for fun? He is not going to build this, as far as I can tell he just wanted to see what the most powerful (and expensive) computer would look like. I can't say I have never "built" a dream system myself on a website or ordering system just to see what all I could cram in it and how high I could make the price go.

I didn't know that Quadro cards wouldn't work that well for gaming, and I will definetly change the design to work with SCSI, switch to registered memory, and add a mouse pad:laugh:. Just so everyone knows, this is my first time designing a computer, and I am 13 years old. Thanks for all the info everybody!

You don't need the Decent with the ML Statements. At $120000 for a pair of speakers it better not need the $2500 subwoofer.
