Sunni Clerics Declare Election Illegitimate...

Who didn't see this coming?

Just wait until the end of the year when the preliminary Iraqi Constitution gets shot down with 3 votes from Sunni areas.

Oh, look, TrollsLikeChicken chimes in with his typical spewing of pure BS.

the democrats boycotted the election?
My comment has to do with questioning the legitimacy of the election, just like the Dems here in the US.

Whether they realize it or not, the Sunnis participated in the demoratic process by choosing NOT to vote, which is their right. Boycotting the election by their own obstinate choice, however, does not give them the right to pronounce the elections illegitimate.

I'm not happy the Bucs are not in the Super Bowl this year. I'm going to boycott it and claim any results are invalid.

I bet the NFL is really worried right now.

That's exactly the point. They intentionally encouraged Sunnis to keep from voting so they could make this baseless claim later. Propaganda works wonders and they'll likely have a large amount of Sunni supporters come end of the year.

Or like the GOP in Washington state?

"If you chose not to decide you still have made a choice"

If they didn't vote, they can't bitch.

Says who?

Rephrases.

If they couldn't vote, they can bitch.

If they didn't vote, the their complaining is groundless. (except to their sheep)

Why would their complaining be groundless? They could have procedural / structural / underlying issues with the election that could not be addressed by participating in it.

What were these issues? If you have a choice and choose not to vote, shut up.

Again, who says? Shall we go in circles all day?

rather poor comparison, is it not?

the democrats you seem to be referencing didn't boycott the election then later claim the election illegitimate based on the fact they boycotted it.

Or maybe no one should ever be allowed to question elections, is that what you'd like instead? Well then Yuschenko and his band of orange scarf goons are just a bunch of whiners, right? They shouldn't question the legitimacy of the election! And what about that vote in Iraq before we invaded? 99% of Iraqis voted for Saddam! That shows how much they love him does it not? Yeah, let's never be allowed to question elections.

Ok you're right. You can bitch all you want. However your complaint is not valid. If you're given an opportunity but don't take advantage of it the only person to blame is yourself. Is this hitting a little close to home for you?

Or like the Dems in Washington State, who were the first to question the election results?

You mean there are comments being made that you don't want to face up to?

Why not answer this?:

Whether they realize it or not, the Sunnis participated in the demoratic process by choosing NOT to vote, which is their right. Boycotting the election by their own obstinate choice, however, does not give them the right to pronounce the elections illegitimate.

Or are people like you and some of the others in here going to call me a troll after your antics in the State of the Union thread?

Yeppers. The "Can dish it out, but can't take it boiz" are alive and kicking here at ATP&N. They are mighty quick to point out trolls, except when they is one.

Hypocrites.

LOl. You're just rephrasing your statement. a) how do you know you can only blame yourself if you don't take advantage of something? b) If you're given an opportunity but don't take advantage of it the only person to blame is yourself != sunni election scenario

If Jesse Jackson told minorities to boycott the 2004 elections and there was a low minority turnout, could they then say the election was invalid? Could minorities that didn't vote then have a valid complaint if their guy didn't win? That's basically what happened in Iraq. The Sunni clerics told the Sunnis to boycott and now say it was invalid because the Sunnis had a low turnout.
