If there is a TJ Maxx near you, go see what they have, I picked up a pair of polarized Carrera aviator-style glasses for $14.99 at about this time last spring.

$39.97
  • Polarized lens offers soothing true color comfort.
100% optically correct/virtually shatterproof polycarbonate lens.
    100% UV protection.
$49.95
  • 100% UV Protection
    superb optical clarity

$20 - $23
  • Optical quality lens and frame
    100% UV400 sunglass
My last prescription glass, polarized lenses were only $75.00, so I see no reason what so ever, to pay more than $50.00 for non prescription sunglasses.

same here. sunglasses are something i dont have the time, energy, or desire to take care of so the cheapos work just fine for me.

as far as the vogue glasses go, if they look good on you and fit nicely, buy them. nobody will notice unless you tell them they are for women.

I hear you. I have a good pair for when I am out and about and a couple of pair of cheapies for when I am out running or working.

Get brand name that way you know that you are getting something that will last... and the lense quality is much much higher so your eyes will be better protected. I bought a set of Oakley Juliets and I love them. They are well worth the money and they have a lifetime warranty.

Well I picked up the Vogue's. Might go back though, a little bit unsure of my purchase. Supposedly no polarization and since they are light blue I doubt they will block out the rays as well as I wanted. Got 30 days to figure that out though ;).

Ditto, I've got a pair of wires that I wear when I'm mowing the lawn or working, and a pair of xmetal xx's for other times.

Would you buy a $15 pair of shoes or a $12.99 jacket? The answer to that should tell you how much you want to spend.

I've gotten good pairs of shoes for $15 and a good leather jacket for the same price. They're not off-shoot brands either. I just did bargain hunting and got them on sale and/or clearance.

I've broken, lost/had stolen about 8 pairs of glasses so I refuse to buy any that are more than $50 anymore.

I love my Ray-Bans with glass lenses. But then high-powered contact lenses make my eyes very sensitive to bright sunlight.

ive had both spendy and cheap ones... lost the spendy ones, cheap ones always held up

check out black flys - they start around $30 for the plastic frames and go way up for metal or hand done ones w/ polarizers, but the $30 are super comfy (think they are called micro flys) - and hold up very nicely

Well...technically, you didn't get $15 shoes or a $15 jacket, you got $100 shoes and a $100 jacket for only $15. That's a bit different. Good point though, if you can find heavily marked down stuff, then go for it.
