This thing looks a lot like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, just about 15mm taller. It didn't come with a retention bracket, and weighs 512 grams. Do I need to figure out something to help support it? That seems rather heavy for a motherboard to hold.

No that's fine, that's not far off from the specifications (4xxg I think). Also, I've never heard of a HSF breaking a motherboard because it's too heavy.

If the infinity which weighs in at over 900g doesn't break a mobo, that cooler certainly won't ;)

A couple of things...

Like Nickel020 said, "No that's fine."

Mobos are tougher than ppl think! I've never seen a mobo break, however, I have seen the stock retention ring break, so...

Also, your sig is bad. It should be:

not...

When someone else clicks the bottom link, it takes them to their bookmarks, not your rig... ;)

I would recommend this cooler because it's cheap and it works just as well as the more expensive Arctic Freezer...

I actually have it sitting nearby, I just didn't want to try installing it until checking that it wouldn't harm anything.

Thanks VinDSL.
