To be honest, Ive had a hard time finding hardware that isnt compatible with it. Every Dell system I have used works fine for the most part off the install, and even my ulta-non-compatible v2000 laptop worked out of the box excluding the wireless.
Solaris seems to like Nvidia better than ATI, but I would stick with an Intel Vid card since you wont be needing tons of graphics processing anyhow
To get 3d acceleration for most stuff you have to go out and buy drivers for it. Same thign with a lot of other stuf, but that's not a issue as people tend to use it for server stuff.
Solairs 10 has native Nvidia driver. Go for it.
Although only Quadro FX/NVS series are "offically supported", the driver works with most (if not all) Nvida 2D/3D cards.
As for DVD-RW burner, given that the author of CDrecord even has his own OpenSolaris distribution, one can expect DVD drive support on Solaris is second to none (among *nix)
