This one is an expensive one, no question about it, but it's a great discount, and well under what any other equivalent screen costs. It's a really great looking monitor too. A tad too rich for my blood, though. I'd love to trade my Dell 2000fp 20.1" UXGA LCD monitor in for one, but we're talking just over twice the price. Considering it's full 1080p compatible though... :)

Specs:

24.1" Digital LCD Monitor, equivalent to 27.5" CRT
1920x1200 native resolution (16:10)
DVI-D, 13W3 (plus 13W3 to VGA cable), S-Video, Composite
4-Port USB hub

I believe Samsung sources the actual panels, so it's a clone of the 240T. Specs:

Brightness: 270 nits
Contrast: 500:1
Viewing Angle: 170 h/v
Total Average Response Time: 25ms rise + fall

Info from Sun Microsystems

Buy from Sun for $2595 plus shipping

Some similar models:

Apple 23" Cinema HD Display (200 nits brightness, 350:1 contrast, 160 v/h, ADC connector, 40ms response): $3499 + Ship
Samsung 240T 24.1" LCD: $3795 + Shipping and above
WideUSA Interface 2400HB (another 240T clone): $4500 + $202.50 shipping

Makes my 17" LCD seem a little punky by those specs. Seems to be a good deal for those with money.

Not that it matters to most, considering the item's price - but the availability is listed as "Constrained"

drool... I wish I could afford that

Hmm, temped to buy two of these, but together they wouldn't quite fit on my desk with the case.

Damm you Apex. DAMM YOU DAMM YOU DAMM YOU.

You know I should know better than to come into the HotDeals forum, I thought I was cured. Sigh. Well, I ordered, let's see what 'constrained' really means...

Heh, sorry Bill. I'll go back to the Video and General Hardware forums where I belong. :)

That thing looks like it's going to be a great unit. The 240T is pretty crazy. This has one of the best looking designs around, not to mention the incredible specs. I really like the thin bezel and the single arc legs. You got to let us all know how it is when you get yours.

UhOh. Render might be right. The SUN store sight is definately screwed up. If you lookup options for Sun workstations you get two 24.1 monitor options. One is "24.1-inch Digital LCD Flat Panel Monitor" model X7145A (the one listed for 2,595) and the second is "24.1-Inch LCD Flat Panel Color Monitor" model X7134A.

Now, both pages link to the page showing the LCD. But from google, it looks like the X7145A might be a 24" monitor (not LCD) that is mislabeled at the Sun site. I'm on hold with them now (20 minutes and counting) trying to figure out whats up. Might not be getting it after all :(

Urg. Had to give up after 98 minutes on hold. Trying again now that I'm at home (they claim to have after hours sales support, but this is a joke).

I'm sad to report that this was all a pricing mistake. Worse, turns out I get a developer discount with Sun, so my actualy price would be about 2000. Now, that does make the 'right' $4500 model only $3600, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna do that or not...
