Summer tires really do mean summer tires

spidey07

No Lifer
Bridgestone Potenza RE030 235/45 17, ordered as original equipment on my '04 TL. Called "ultra high performance summer tires"

Now I've driven sports cars most of my life and always had "high performance tires". I was able to manage just fine, sure they didn't do well in snow...but I could manage with good throttle use.

But today, the first snow - nothing more than a light dusting of 2 inches. And I couldn't get out of my neighborhood. I could barely move on a flat surface, let alone steer. It was like slicks on ice, literally.

So lesson learned - summer tires mean summer tires. Guess I'll need to get a winter set.

-edit- looked up ratings on tirerack.com. Under "snow traction" it has "N/A". heh, guess that confirms it.

Haha, going from what, 17"s to frickin' 15" steelies 😛 At least with K3VIN's, they're 16" steelies (he got some practically brand new 04 I4 EX alloy's with brand new tires for $225 local pickup)

damn, he made off. It's like he got tires for more than half off and got free rims, lol.

BTW, I ordered cams for my car but I don't know how to install them, lol. 😀

Yea that's what I was telling him 🙂

So you removed your resonator, have the new gaskets, and now cams? I haven't done anything to mine in like 6 months 🙁

I never got the IMG gasket, I figure I will order it if/when I get port work done to the head. It's too much labor to install just for that.

yeah I want to do more stuff, but no time to install anything. Work kicks my butt. At this point in time, I have enough money to just buy another car instead of modding mine, lol.

Sorry for the thread hijack, spidey can just go whoring some accord forums and get some cheap oem wheel/rims and use them for beater winter wheels.

Bah, all you need is a garage, a good set of mechanics tools, a good set of metric measuring gauges and a torque wrench...oh, you will also need gaskets and a bunch of misc other items along with a shop manual for rebuilding your engine and possibly a few other tools. You may also find that some sort of mechanical ability would come in handy...even then you will probably fvck it up.😀

lol yeah I have a garage, tools and shop manual. I'm actually thinking about buying an extra engine for me to do all the work I want to all at once.

The two things that suck about working on Hondas are the crank pulleys and auto tensioners. Crank pulleys are always a bitch even with a 1/2" impact gun. Auto tensioners are just a fineky device by nature.
