Summer shoes!

Anyone else in the godforsaken frozen wastelands swap to summer tires yet?

I just got myself a set of Kumho Ecsta XS for my Miata. They feel great.

I also got an alignment with the tires and unfortunately it seems that the shop didn't tighten down my eccentric bolts so I have a terrible clunk 🙁.

Just got a new set of Hankook Ventus V12's put on my IS350. So far seems like a nice tire. Just happy to be off the snows.......

Swapped my X-Ice2 and aftermarket 18"s back to OEM staggered Enkei/Bridgestone RE050As a couple weeks ago.

and that's why you guys pay less to live there. Ahh it feels good to be able to not live like a hermit for days or even months out of the years and use the same tires year round.

Don't pay shit to live here. Houston is cheap. Gas is cheap, property and houses are cheap. And no snow.

Will probably swap my tires in the next few days. Was actually going to do it today but ended up messing around with some other stuff around the house.

Although I do appreciate a nice new set of shoes, we don't do the seasonal thing down here. Perhaps one day I will move to a location that has more than "summer" and "almost summer" as seasons.

Actually it's more expensive to live up here than pretty much anywhere warmer except CA. Another reason I'm looking forward to AZ..

It hit 70 here today. I was going to do it today but got sidetracked. Likely tomorrow. I've been wanting to spin the tires and as a result been beating up my snows.

I should be doing it next week. I'm overdue by a month, but I figure I'll do my brakes at the same time when they come, so I don't have to pull the wheels twice.

I just did, yesterday. Here's a pic from last year.

Car is cleaner right now, plus the tires have tire dressing on them to make 'em nice and black. They aren't actually "Summer" tires, but are all-season Z-rated Goodyear Eagle F1. I do have some Summer tires on my stock wheels, but they are pretty worn.

It was a PITA to get the winter wheels off the car for some reason. Don't know if more road crud got into them or whatever, but I could just about not get the lug nuts off. I've swapped my own wheels a few years now and never had this problem before. I have one of those + shaped multi sized lug wrenches and I had to push down on one side with my foot while pulling up on the other side with my hands - they were that stuck! Not only are both of my hands all bruised up, one time when the nut finally released my elbow hit the edge of a wheel well so hard that the back of my arm is still swollen and hurts really bad if something bumps/presses against it. In fact, for a few seconds after the impact my hand went numb. 😵

Putting the other set on was pretty easy though. I got to play with my new purchase (from last year, too late to use). Got a compressor and impact wrench. 😛

I now have plans to invest in a breaker bar, in case this happens again.
