"summer party attire"

Not jeans, but comfortable pants, and a not so formal button down shirt.

No suits, no ties, nothing overly formal.

When in doubt (for the summer), go seersucker. Don't wear a tie.

The fabric was originally worn by the poor in the U.S. until undergraduate students in the 1920s, in an air of reverse snobbery, began to wear the fabric.[3] Damon Runyon wrote that his new habit for wearing seersucker was "causing much confusion among my friends. They cannot decide whether I am broke or just setting a new vogue."

hipsters!

No way. Hipsters may have adopted seersucker, but I'm a transplant into Virginia and it's always been summer wear here.

It's acceptable in our courtrooms, too.

Hipsters will move on to the next ironic fad, but seersucker will remain.
