Summer Job

amol

Lifer
16 years old, I can drive, have my own car.

I've thought of things like grocery store as a bagboy/cart wrangler, Best Buy, Borders as cashier. Anything else?

Server, ditch digger, bat boy, paperboy, dishwasher, painter, drywaller, loss prevention, tech support, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Well, I don't have any work experience. All I have to go on are my grades in school.

1. Its getting a bit late to be looking for a summer job. At least where I lived as a kid, jobs were snagged for the summer by now.

2. Starting your own company is good stuff. You set your own hours, charge what you'd like, and an overall good jumpstart into the real world.

3. Avoid fast food, manual labor, low experience, low pay type of jobs. Look for a job at a law office or something of the sort that will pay high in terms of experience. Its possible to score $10-12+/hour at age 16 and the work wouldn't be strenuous.

Ummm, no they weren't.

School out here doesn't end for another 5-6 weeks.

$10/12 an hour?! Only if the kid has some serious connections...

Plus, I don't care about money; I already have a car and I'll be able to pay for college. What I want is work experience

Uh, working retail or a restaurant isn't going to get you points with anyone. If you're not doing it to make money, don't do it.

working retail gets you customer service points 😉

Contact a temp agency if high paying office work sounds appealing.
Catering companies are pretty good for a first time job. Easy work, and there are certain perks.
