Summer camp

When I was younger I never went to a summer camp but I have supervised at summer camp on 2 previous occasions, last year and in 2002. I will be also doing it again this year. I'm taking 2 weeks off work to do this.

It is a lot of fun and I meet a lot of girls. Roughly 30 girls turn up to supervise and about 4 other guys do it 😛. I guess guys don't want to supervise kids but I'm great with kids so it doesn't bother me.

It's pretty cool as we go out most nights and do stuff.

i used to go to this one out at the state park when i was a lot younger. you went for the day and then went home and came back the next morning. it was like 1 or 2 weeks long. my mom is a nurse so she used to be part of the medical staff there too.

one year i did do the counselor type thing I was probably like 14 or so. you just made sure the kids behaved and got to where they were supposed to be. a guy i was friends with at the time did it too and we met some girls that were doing the counselor thing too. nothing ever came out of it though.

Yeah it is a lot of fun imo.

I'll probably do Camp America within a few years , 9 weeks out in the states.

I've done both. It's more fun being the one who supervises the kids. There's usually a bunch of female supervisors there too and almost always at least 1 hot one. <nostalgic sigh> summer lovin'.. I mean camp.

I've gone to summer camp, but never supervised anything at one. It would probably depend on the type of staff and the type of kids that go to the camp that determine whether it is a good experience or a bad one.

I went to camp every year for at least a week since 3rd grade... I've graduated now, and this year I'll be a counselor. The type of camp I'm talking about is a stay over night camp. I'm starting June 2nd and won't be done until August 17th.

I never went to a summer camp.
Two summers ago I did work at a summer camp for Jewish kids. I worked in the infirmary. Good times.

I've been to countless summer camps...my cousins and i were suckered into most of them when we were young.

I've been wanting to be a couselor for several years now but the weekend that the camp is on is always on my birthday...so I chose birthday/4th of July fireworks over counseling.

maybe next year. lol.

edit: i'd supervise daycamps if i wasn't working...I've heard they are a lot of fun and the kids are great. My boyfriend might be teaching sailing at a summer day camp near his town this summer...I so wish I could do it too. Spending time w/ bf + being outdoors + being around kids = my idea of a great summer.

Man..why did I have to grow up and get a real job? lol.

I went to summer camp. You had to be college-aged to be a counsellor at this particular camp, and I always swore that I would come back and do it when I was in college.

I have a vivid memory of sitting at my desk during my first cushy internship and suddenly remembering that I previously wanted to work at the camp. And then I thought about sleeping in a dingy bunkhouse and getting paid squat compared to my internship.... I must have been nuts!

I did stand-in as woodwind instructor for a local marching band's end-of-summer camp. That was a lot of fun.

I like the ratio of guys/girls. Definitely in your favor.

Just leave the capri pants at home. 😉

!

Yeah lots of girls and few guys. They also separate the guys out so they have one of us doing the outdoor type of activity and 'safe' guard the group when away. All the guys are cool also.

We also go down the local pub after work and go out on weekends.

Those 3/4 are coming with me. White ones, stoney and green ones . It can get pretty hot running about in the outdoors. Good old Adidas DB shorts also.

This camp is one where the kids don't sleep over so I get to stay at my place. Not that I care where I sleep if I had to sleep over. I'm not a fussy person with stuff like this.

I'm taking 2 weeks holiday to go and do this. The pay is quite a bit less then my normal job but it is pretty decent pay if your a student though imo. I'm getting paid my usual holiday pay and getting paid for the time I do the summer camp. Basically I supervise, do sports and flirt with a bunch of girls.

We go swimming so I get to check out the other supervisors in their bikini's 😛 and we also go to this outdoor pool. We also do the usual stuff and do paintballing (free for us), moutain biking on some trials, adventure park thingie with obastcles etc.

I did it this summer. Now I hate rich kids and australians.

I was a life guard and taught lifesaving and canoeing at a boy scout camp for 2 or 3 summers. Pay was next to nothing, but it was a good time. Sadly, all guys though.

The kids are not rich and a few deprieved backgrounds. Most are great fun but some are complete a-holes. But hey I deal with it. Hell sometimes I have to run and chase after them when they go a bit crazy and run off!

Hmmm...I'd probably not do it, well not give up my holiday time to do it anyway if there wasn't female supervisors also 😛
