Suit question

Go to Men's Warehouse. Tell them you have an emergency- they'll see if they can do a quick alteration on your jacket.

I love that place. They actually are like their commercials. They redid a custom made suit in 90 minutes for me one time when there was a mishap going to a funeral.

if i keep my hands straight down at my sides, it covers my entire hand and a little extra. with my arms extended, it comes out to a little bit above the bottom of my palm, maybe a 1/4 inch or little less. i could probably deal with this issue and the shoulder pad issue, but not the armpits.

it looks like the suit is made wrong or something. from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the armpit seems really huge. if my arms are straight at my sides, the bottom of the armpit seam almost reaches my elbows.

i called the recruiter because i had some questions about other things and i told her about the jacket. she said i should just wear slacks, long shirt, tie, and shoes. i got all of that covered.

I'll see if i can get the jacket altered afterward, in case i need it again.

You could get by with a nice sports coat if you truly can't find a suit that fits. If you're job hunting at least get one good looking suit, shirt, tie, shoes, etc.

On one hand if you have a jacket, you'll look professional. On the other hand, if it looks like ass, you'll look like a tool with absolutely no fashion sense trying to fit in. If everyone else going for the interview is wearing a suit, you may as well just suck it up.

Mines is kind alike that; sleeves long and shoulder pads huge. My chest is already 'huge' cause I'm short and my square torso is augmented by the long jacket and thin pants. Oh, and I bought a 3 button jacket with a thick tie, which only made it look worse. Now I'm looking for a new one.

I'd still wear the jacket because I think they will notice more that you didn't wear the jacket then that the jacket was too big. Especially since they asked you if you had one.

i just hope i feel ok for the interview. i've had this weird feeling in my stomach for the past few days, like gas pains, but it doesn't want to go away, even after taking gas relief medicine. i also feel like i have to crap but can't. the last few times I felt like this, i ended up puking my guts out all night long. although, that pain came on in 1 day and was pretty much gone the next. this has been happening for a few days.

i'm just going to go without the jacket and hope they aren't that superficial. this is one reason why i hate interviews. wtf does how i dress for an interview have to do with my ability to do the job? as long as i dress nicely and not like a slob, it shouldn't matter. after the interview, i won't have to dress up like that probably 99% of the time as its business casual, so really, whats the point?

If the jacket fits as bad as you say, then don't wear it. Just make sure your shirt, collar, tie, belt, shoes look good and most importantly YOU ARE WELL GROOMED.

You can still look very sharp without the suit jacket. You could even quickly joke - "It's been a while since I needed a suit and they couldn't alter the jacket in time, hope you understand, *wink*, *smile*."

First impression. You can never get that back. Sorry to break it to you but you are immediately judged on your appearance within about 20 seconds. How you look, how you carry yourself, your body language, your confidence - all can be seen in about 20-30 seconds without you even saying a word.

Skip the jacket. Better off not wearing it (say they messed up tailoring it or it got stained or say nothing at all).

You are better off in a shirt and tie that fits than a jacket that looks ill fitting.

none. i was never measured. its a basic off the rack type suit. they just went by my coat size.

Ack... whoever sold you that suit didn't do their job! Suits need to be custom tailored, or they usually end up looking like hell on you. Same thing goes for Tuxedos.

You should always dress at least as nice as the interviewer, if not better. If you're not sure what the company dress code is, a suit is usually a good choice.

That said, I worked at a place where the CEO wore sweat pants to an all hands staff meeting... something tells me that a suit wouldn't help there 🙂
