Seems the BvS results had a significant impact here. from reports they in effect filmed two movies, screened each, and then made a mashup going by survey results. Will be interesting to see what type of disc release this gets.

Saw it tonight. It was entertaining. Disjointed and all over the place, but a fun popcorn movie nonetheless. Whole lot of stuff jammed into the movie though. No reason to have Joker in it other than they could. Most importantly, Margot Robbie is hot. And that excuses a lot.

It's crossed over the half a billion mark, so at least for making money the DC side of the market isn't in any fear of folding.

deadshot backstory was stupid.
as well as the ending.

why the F was the main bad guy fighting hand to hand when she could just wipe them with a wave of her hand?

I really hope a director's cut will be released.

oh, Rotten Tomatoes has a rating of 26% now

I saw the movie Thursday night, and just got back home from seeing it again tonight (they held it over at the drive-in, and it was the movie that was playing with War Dogs.) Agreed. (That Margot Robbie is hot.) But, it seems the movie would have been better with quite a few of her one liners removed - it turned her into a sort of Jar Jar Binks character tossed in for comic relief. The director should have increased her screen time without increasing her spoken lines. Maybe it was the film editing, maybe the camera angles, but lines like "I like her, she seems nice" just didn't seem to work for me. Increase the elevator scene, with better angles. Maybe increase a couple other scenes with her, but cut out those one liners. Also, it was like the director thought, about every third scene, "hey, you should have a Long Island accent. I forgot that in the last scene, but no problem." But, for the most part, she seemed to do a decent acting job, but poor directing - bad ass one minute, then pounding on a dead monster with a baseball bat for comic relief the next.

But, when I was watching it Thursday, about an hour into it, I was thinking that if I was just listening to the soundtrack (and full songs, rather than 15 second clips each time they introduced a new character), that would have been more enjoyable.

Suicide Squad gives zero fucks about the shitty reviews and is still #7 on the top 10, down from #4 last week...

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $313,774,166 43.6%
+ Foreign: $406,000,000 56.4%
= Worldwide: $719,774,166

Just exceptional timing by WB, NOTHING on the calendar to compete with this.

Between the 2 releases this year hitting between 1.5 and 1.75B not a bad start for revamping the studio.

Exactly. Not to unnecessarily disparage the movie, but its quality wasn't its draw. It's winning by default in what was a surprisingly tame August/September. Which is why timing is so critical; there's more to making a profit than just topping the box office for a week or two. A smaller pop and a longer tail can go a long way. WB could not have released a poor tent-pole movie at a better time. It's very smart (and definitely a bit lucky as well).

Yup, it pretty much had to do well by default. I hope they don't take this as a sign that Leto was any good
