It doesn't take itself too seriously and the characters are a lot of fun. The bar scene is like one of the best quiet before finale scenes I've ever seen.

A bit too many flashbacks, but the characters are so good that it's all good.

It must have been hella expensive to make. Will Smith, and that soundtrack. Wow.

And Captain Boomerang is a real super Villain? The whole concept is hilarious.

just saw it. Eh it was ok. I really liked Harley Quinn's character but so many were flat and had no development time\didn't really advance the story. The plot seemed a bit off too.
Oh yay - another beam shooting into the sky thats going to destroy everything. How original! And what was with the dancing queen - she was moving really oddly when building her 'machine'. And why didn't they just destroy her heart at the start? Also - if Enchantress could get those plans so fast why couldn't she cut off the finger of whats her face and use that to open her heart. It took her like half a second to get the plans so that seems like it should be possible. And why create the team? Because what if superman took the president hostage? Call batman or wonder woman who are apparently too busy to deal with a doomsday scenario. And why wouldn't an archaeologist or doctor or whatever she was immediately destroy an ancient artifact

I watched this movie Friday night and thought it was fucking terrible. I didn't really have any expectations for it.

Don't we have a thread for this already? I enjoyed it enough, but I wasn't expecting much.. I'm also friends with the writer of the original comics so anything that helps him is an auto-win for me.

Yeah, um no. It was awful. It was filled with Will Smith one liners, a girl in an abusive relationship, and everyone else phoning it in to a poorly written script.

A completely braindead movie for completely braindead children, all noise, no substance. The only thing it was missing was Michael Bay's name on the credits.

Guys, could it be that he's been locked in olds' basement and they just had Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad on loop, so his frame of reference has been skewed?

I was going to say "clearly you have not adjusted to the auteur that is Zack Snyder", which actually fits since his influence on the whole DC setup is a big part of why they suck, but he didn't direct Suicide Squad (for the better though really, at least they tried to have some fun whereas Snyder would have just made it just miserable).

Its kinda like the TMNT movies (haven't seen the second one so guess I can't say for sure), sure Michael Bay didn't direct it but it reeks of him and its clear that his producer role greatly influenced things.

I'm going to spoil it for you: they added all parts that could have made it great (Bebop, Rock Steady, and Casey Jones) and they couldn't make it even close to the first (TMNT, not the original in all Turtles movies) in terms of quality and a fun film.

You have to be smoking some bad crack. The movie was absolute shit. Probably THE worst comic book movie I've ever had the misfortune of watching.

You bastard! Yeah, it sounds like they were trying to court the old TMNT cartoon fans, but I knew it wouldn't be a movie I'd enjoy.

Just out of curiosity, did any of you see the extended version? Or are we only judging the theatrical here?

From what I've seen, extended cuts that you have to wait until the blu-ray for (I assume this is a marketing ploy to sell more physical copies), have more often than not been infinitely better than the theatrical release. I don't know what problems it solved in this case, since I've been skipping the theater for most movies simply because of this fact, but I enjoyed Suicide Squad's extended cut.

Personally, I always skip the hype train, though. Nothing worse than setting up something to fail in your own mind by settings expectations you've created of it yourself. So if it's only "not good", because it didn't live up to the hype, then your opinion matters little to me.

The two complaints I heard from the theater would both be solved by replacing the screentime that Harley Quinn's ass was flaunted for us with more scenes for Joker. Personally I had a problem with neither of those things from the extended cut.

Dawn of Justice was also better than I had expected after hearing the reviews of the theatrical version.
