I am looking to upgrade my computer and im trying to figure out if i should upgrade the cpu or the mobo...
I am thinking about buy this new albatron 845pe mobo, i have a p4b533 right now. (i am getting the 845pe mobo for sure)
I am also looking to buy a 2.26 533 fsb p4 right now as well, I currently have a 1.6a running @ 2.24.

Am i wasting my money getting a new mobo (dont have a choice but id like to know what to recommend to others), also is it worth it to buy the cpu?

Sry if this is in the wrong forum but its a mix between cpu and motherboard and general hardware gets more views imo. 🙂
Thanks
Matt

Why an 845PE upgrade from the 845E? The PE offers very little over the 845E. The 4:5 mem ratio and hyperthreading support are about it. You can run 3:4 ratio on either board. Wait a little while for the Granite Bay dual channel DDR boards to hit (a month or so). That should be a worth while upgrade.

What sort of difference is there between a non 533fsb p4 and a 533fsb chip? Substantial?

It depends on what you are doing with your overclocking. You now run:

1.6A @ 2.24 GHz
560 FSB

You are already above 533 FSB. A 2.26 will be able to overclock to a higher speed. Be sure you are running the 3:4 mem ratio on the P4B533 with the setup you now have. This will get you to DDR373 Vs DDR280 with a 1:1 ratio.
