Suggestions on Porting my MP3's to our Audio System..

hi, i'm sure this has been covered somewhere but my dumb search didn't find it, so apologies if this has been discussed...

i have thousands of mp3's on my pc, mostly from yahoo music unlimited, and i'm wondering how to get them to our audio system. i can use the mp3 player and plug it in via headphone jack to audio in on the receiver, but there's a big degradation of sound quality that way. is there a direct route, either by networking somehow, or other way to get the files to our system?

thanks

A $299 PC from Dell or the Sunday paper would do the job.

The networked music appliances are incompatible with the protected music from subscription services as far as I know.

The only other solution is there are wireless repeaters that could take the audio out from your PC and send it to the tape in of the receiver, but I don't of any specific ones to recommend.

only issue with the first solution is i'd like (my cake and eat it too!) to be able to keep them in the pc we have now but also somehow be able to listen via our audio system. if i bought another pc i'd have to move everything off. i guess another solution is a duplicate yahoo music membership but that's $120/year in cost...harrummph!!

Run an audio cable from your PC to your Reciever. You can get adapters to go from 1/8" headphone to RCA plugs.

if you have a home network, you can use a music bridge like this.
It can be wired or wireless. other option is to run cables as suggested by Varun.

edit for spelling

this might be the ticket! i have a wired network in my house but was thinking of adding a wireless access point. from the wap i could pick up the tracks and have the bridge connected to my pc. the bridge is $80, i think the wap is about $50, so for $130 i might have a solution.

the trouble with running cables is i have a ranch and the pc is at the opposite side of the house from the audio system...cheaper to put in the wap i think...

Or if you wanted to go the DIY route, you could buy a modchipped (or softmodded) second hand xbox and run XBMC on it. All you have to then is hook it up to your network (via ethernet, or one of those wireless ethernet bridges) and you can access all your music. It just may be something for you too look in for if you want something thats a bit more vesatile (eg: the ability to stream movies and pictures over the network, plus play games) then most commercial solutions.
