Hey guys, my birthday is coming up and its about time i upgrade my power supply so i can eventually support SLI/Crossfire. As of right now my peak loud is approximately 80 watts under my power supply limit, which for me is a little to close for comfort. I currently have the Corsair HX620 and love it for the modular cabling and its looks, but its about time i upgrade so i can support another graphics card =) All suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

What are you running...you may not need 1000W.

Anyway, if I were buying a 1000W+ PSU, it would be the Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W or the Galaxy 1250W.

After that, perhaps the BFG EX-1200

Then how is it only silver cert? while my 1000w OCZ is a gold cert...

80plus certified....80 plus does not certify quality. They certify efficiency at 25C. Efficiency does not equal quality.

The OCZ Z series is about 1%-2% more efficient than the Enermax Revolution 85+ at normal operating temperatures around 45C.

Most people who actually do the reviewing of PSUs consider efficiency to be a distant third to voltage regulation and ripple suppression in the performance metric.

The Enermax Revolution is MUCH MUCH better at voltage regulation and fairly much better in ripple suppression.

Give us your specs. Chances are you aren't running as close to max on your current PSU as you think, and I can be almost 100% sure you don't need 1000w

+1,2,3 for the Enermax Revo 1050 or Galaxy Evo 1250. I own both and they are great psu's.
They have had great deals on them too. Recently had the 1050 for $150 after rebate, wish I would have bit on that deal since I need another psu right now...kickin myself in the a$$

I've been a fan of several brands through the years, but I am now only purchasing Enermax brand PSUs. The build quality and overall workmanship is above and beyond any other manufacturer and their support is top notch if you have any questions or issues.

I highly recommend the Enermax Revolution85+ 1050W. I've got currently the following Enermax PSUs in systems:
Galaxy 1000W
Galaxy Evo 1250W
Galaxy Evo 950W SLI
Galaxy 850W
Infinity 720W
Revolution85+ 850W
Revolution85+ 1050W

They're all great. The Revolution85+ series is my favorite currently, so I highly recommend the 1050W.

Who does better?

I didn't say anyone did it better.

I said that Enermax is not over and above everyone else as you stated they are.

I would say Zippy builds units of higher quality, they might not be as efficient as the Revolution 85+, but build quality is better.

I'd say that the higher end Delta units are as good or better as well.

Enhance, CWT, Seasonic and Impervio can also equal the build quality and performance of Enermax.

Seconded. From what I see people are really crazy over getting overkill PSUs these days.

From AT itself:
http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3413&p=2

"Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850, 4GB Memory, NVIDIA 780i Chipset, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra SLI, an optical drive, and four hard drives = 310W Idle/544W Full load". I doubt the OP have a system this power hungry.

That's only slightly more than half of 1000W, contrary to what PSU marketing would like you to believe.

And don't forget in general the efficiency PSU decreases as you go further from it's nominal power output, making your electric bill higher than if you went for a lower wattage unit and that's not counting the extra if you spent on the 1KW in the first place.

while it's not a 1000W, i would take the seasonic X750 gold series over anything right now. the efficiency and design innovation in the gold series beats anything I would ever consider building with, but since i'm not a multi-gpu kind of guy that's not saying much.

I just wanna say LOLOLOL. Certification has nothing to do with quality of the psu outside of basic functionality. It will not stop your psu from having high ripple, terrible voltage regulation, or many other problems. Not that the OCZ is actually that bad, but the Enermax Revolution honestly blows it out of the water in terms of quality.

As mentioned by others, unless you're running QUAD video cards or something ridiculous, 1000w is massively overkill for anything.
