Hi all
I am building my 1st pc and so far this is what i have got:
- MSI 865PE Neo 2LS mobo - 865 chipset, 800FSB, supports upto PC3200 DDR (4)
- Intel P4 2.4C Ghz - 800FSB
- Just ordered GeForce 4 Ti4200 as my video card

Looking for RAM brand/speed/type suggestions, according to article here on Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1839&p=8), best combination for 865 mobo's is:

QUOTE - "If you plan to run DDR400 as your base memory speed with an 800FSB processor, your best memory performance will clearly be with four matched double-sided DIMMs. Our tests, confirmed by Intel White Papers, show these configurations ranked from fastest to slowest performance on an Intel 875 Canterwood or 865 Springledale chipset motherboard.
DDR400 (1:1) Performance DIMM Configuration Single-Channel or Dual-Channel:
1 4 DS Dual Channel
2 2 DS or 4 SS Dual Channel
3 2 SS Dual Channel
4 4 SS/DS Mixed Matched Pairs Dual Channel
5 Any DS Single Channel
6 Any SS Single Channel " END QUOTE

I was thinking of GEIL PC3200 512MB DDR-RAM (You can see it at : http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...147&manufactory=1687&DEPA=0&sortby=14&order=1
about half way down the page, look for 'Top Seller'),

but have the following questions:

- Is it worth to go for DUAL-SIDED?
- Dual Channel?
- Do type of heat spreader matter that much?

Any suggestions/recommendations for which memory to use?

Thanks,
KG
