My brother has a Dell 4600 P4 2.66 and ONLY plays "Medal of Honor." He currently has a Ti4200 video card and I'd like to get him a new one for Christmas. Is there anything out there for under $200 that will give him a significant boost in frame rate playing "Medal of Honor?"

Thanks for any suggestions.

MoH should run great on the 4200(as others mentioned). Get him some games instead, perhaps BF1942, CoD, Max Payne 2, or something.

If he likes MOH, he would probably really like SOF II: Double Helix (Soldier of Fortune), very similar game in a lot of respects. That is one LONG game too, you really get your moneys worth. I liked the AI, if you stand there thinking about what to do they attack you --- lob grenades at you etc. He could try downloading the demo ?

if he likes MOHAA get him Call of Duty he will fall in love all over again

then after COD which is way more graphically intense he'll tell everyone he needs a new videocard so you make him wait and buy him a videocard for his b-day. Hopefully its after April so that way the new cards right now like 9800Pro will drop significantly and they will be an awesome buy for cheap. Also the new generation will come out and if he adds $100 of his own he can get the newest and greatest

You should only buy a new videocard when you cant play the games you like any longer smoothly at say 1280x1024 or whatever he prefers (with AA/AF on/off?)

so iwth medal of honor i am sure its running just fine i have 3.06 with radeon 8500 no problems at 1600x1200 and his videocard is better than mine already so....

if he is getting 80FPS now yes a new card like 5900nu will give him double, triple whatever it is but no one can tell after 60 steady i bet.

So in conclusion until he has a game that runs slower than he lieks then there is no point of getting him a videocard now but if u really wanna give him that present 5900 NU for 199 XFX at www.pricewatch.com you can search for them they are cheap

The Ti 4200 sucks bunghole. Get him a Nvidia Geforce FX 5900.

I had a Ti 4600 and I ran Medal of Honor: Allied Assault beautifully, but Spearhead ran like crap and Breakthrough even more so. I would get him a better card.

Spearhead and Breakthrough are expansions to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

I agree with some of the other comments...if he loves MOH, then get him Call of Duty. It runs great on my GF4 4200 and XP 2000+.

Some levels are extremely GPU limited, levels like the snow forest level where you go hunting for the anti-aircraft guns.

A 9700np/9800np (if you can get one for $200) will show a massive gain over a Ti4200 in such levels.

My main comp has a 4200 also and MOH sometimes seems choppy to me.

But the new Wolfenstein free download runs great.

Give it a try anyway; I don't think you need retail wolfenstein installed (believe I uninstalled mine when I finished it but it was a WHILE back) but castle wolfenstein enemy territory is free, runs great and is actually much funner than the original wolfenstein m.p. game.
