OK, after many years in the Intel/ATI camp, I decided to try an AMD64/NF3/6800 build and would appreciate any thoughts on where to start with getting the best performance from this sucker. Below are my specs and I should be getting the components in a few days....

A 64 3000+ 754 Retail (Don't know rev yet)
Arctic Silver 5
Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF
Chaintch VNF-250
2x512 PC4000 KingMax CL3 (Reports ar this will do 2/3/3/6 at 2.6v)
500W PSU w/ 2x80mm
Plenty of case vents and fans (3x80mm, 1x120mm)
eVGA 6800 128MB stock 325/700 (Will try soft mods 16/6 and OC @ around 400/800)

I'm just not really sure where to start for all the RAM timings, CPU and RAM voltages, multipliers and such. Any suggestions would be great! -

I would go up to 220FSB with the CPU at 10x220 and the mem at 1:1 ratio, and keep going up, making sure the agp lock is on, until you get your max, hopefully that will be around 2.5ghz or higher, depending on your luck of the draw with the CPU. Also, turn down the HTT to 4x(800).

That is an awesome setup. I have very similar stuff as yours. My stuff:

2800+ NewCastle (stock heatsink with 80 mm Tornado on top)
Chaintech VNF3-250
2x512 MB Kingmax PC3500

I'm currently running it at 278x9 (2502) Mhz @ 1.55 volts Prime stable for over 24 hours. I think it can go higher if I have better RAM and cooling.

Hopefully you'll get a good OCer.

Thanks for the replies guys! AT never lets a brother down!

It just seems like there are hella variables in these NF3 for OCing - way unlike my P4 2.4B/845PE setup! heh.. It makes me witsh there was a complete OCers guide for my specific setup, but hopefully the chaintech manuals are good enough at explaining BIOS options...

And Jayavarman, how do you like your Kingmax PC3500's? I had Kingmax in a PC133 setup like 5 years ago and it seemed solid enough. But for $99 per PC4000 512MB stick, I figured the price point was right! :)

I like them alot. I'm running my memory at 166 so it's actually running [(278/200)*166]*2=461 Mhz @ 2.5, 3, 3, 11. Not bad for memories rated at 433 Mhz. It ran memtest86 all night at the speed.

I have a vnf-250 as well, but with a 2800+ and the retail HSF (for now)
Stable at 2403 MHz at default voltage 2 MHz higher on bus speed got me a Prime 95 failure after a little over 5 hours, I assume a better HSF and higher voltage will net higher, but for now this is good.

I have 2 Kingmax 512MB PC3500 that are topping out at 225 MHz @ 2.5-3-3 on the Chaintech, but it will not run in dual channel on my nForce2 board (in fact I could create a situation where it would, quite repeatably corrupt the BIOS to the point where I had to re-flash the BIOS by hotflashing with a differenrt motherboard,) and, as such, they have left a bad taste in my mouth.

Jayavarman,
at 5:6 with the 9x multiplier you are actually at CPU speed / 11 for memory speed (278*9/11 = 227.5 MHz) You have to drop to the 5x multiplier for 5:6 to give you exactly the memory speed reported on the POST screen. A64 always uses an integer divided by CPU speed for memory speed. It will keep the memory speed somewhere at or below the ratio speed.

Is there a good comprehensive guide for OCing this setup? I think I've forgotten more than I even learned!!!
