Suggestions for image batch resizing

Any suggestions for software that will perform a batch resize operation, where the images resized are based on the horizontal dimension and the image is scaled accordingly?

For example, I have a group of photos that range from 2400 to 3000 pixels wide, and need to resize them all to 1600 pixels wide, while keeping the original aspect ratio.

Thanks. I had an old version of Irfanview that didn't resize the way I wanted it to, but just downloaded the latest and it looks good. 😀
