Preferably close to Love Field (Irving, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Farmer's Branch). My budget is about $500-$600 per month. One bedroom or studio is fine. I'm not too picky, just that it's quiet at night and I feel relatively safe.

Any suggestions for apartments or even other living options (rent a room, etc...)?

Thanks!

I recommend Plano as a long-time DFW resident. Should be able to find something over here for around that range. It's an older, quieter neighborhood, not nearly the amount of drunk people and cops in the evenings as Addison. Carrollton is going downhill quick and isn't very conveniently located, Farmer's Branch is a sh*thole with some of the worst cops in the area, Irving is a sh*thole, Dallas is a mixed bag, but anywhere you want to live south of 635 will definitely cost more than $600/mo. PM if you want some suggestions.

Farmers Branch isn't _that_ bad (well, certain parts anyway) - I've lived here for ~1.5 years and (thankfully) haven't encountered any issues.
I'm very close to Preston and Alpha.

You're basically in striking distance of Addison and so on, yeah FB back towards Josey is a hellhole. I'm glad you're not in the worse areas :D

Although, that dang tornado that touched down in Addison was a little too close for comfort
