Suggestions for CD-R/CD-RW media?

I just got my hands on a new Gadget/Toy, the TDK VeloCD (12x/10x/32x) CD-RW Drive.

Now I need to pickup some Blanks, but there's like A TON of manufacturers and varying opinions as to quality and compatibility (I want to be able to make a VCD that'll playin my Home Theatre DVD player)...

Can anyone suggest a Link to a place that has good info and comparisons?

That would be GREAT! Thx.

outpost has Imation CDR 12x 50 Pack Spindle 700MB 80 Minute Media for $24.95 - $10 rebate = $14.95.

I think these are some good quality CDR's. This is a good price with free shipping. My 2 cents.

Go to outpost and search for item #84258

I've always had very good success with the Imations. Best Buy has them on sale pretty frequently. Usually a 50pk of 80min/12x for ~$15.

I'm also down with the Imations from Outpost. I haven't got my $10 rebate even though I sent out for it nearly 3 months ago.

Well whatever it still was a good deal and I got cds that I have had no problems at all with. Unlike, say, KINGSTON HYPERMEDIA WHICH FVCKING SUCKS. 🙂

OK, here goes. For computer-related things: backups, computer ISOs, etc, I have found that any media is fine. Sure, TDK/Imation are a lot better than generic CompUSA blanks, but so long as you take good care of them they'll be fine.

For other things, IE, cds that are to be played in other devices such as CD players, DVD players, dreamcasts, etc, you're better off getting higher quality media because those devices tend to be rather picky.

Hmmm, them Imations sound mighty tempting. But...

How are they for PSX backups?
How compatible is it with Home Theatre DVD players (if I want to make a VCD)?

Thanks!

Go with premium True Silvers.
TrueSilver media

These work very nice for PSX and audio.
I havnt really had a problem with kingstons 12x to date either.
But some people do.
*shrug*
Not a great idea to burn like psx games at 12x.
😀

Little more detail about Kingstons from me:

At 8x on my Plextor, data or audio really doesn't work, especially audio. At 4x, most data cds play ok. At 4x, audio MIGHT play ok in computer cd-rom but usually not in other cds players. At 2x audio plays ok in portable, car cd, etc...

The Imations work fine for VCDs. My friend burns a ton of those and after having a bad experience with Kingstons, he uses Imations.
