I've tried to post in the IS7 section, but don't get a response very quickly - I figure that this is not being looked through as often anymore. Could someone suggest the best settings for GAT on an Abit IS7 for both P4 2.6C stock and O/Cd (3.26Ghz) speeds?? I've messed around with different settings, but am not sure if I'm seeing a whole lot of difference (maybe a little). Anybody?

Much appreciated! :D

Just make sure the last two are disabled. If you have realy good memory then you may be able to set GAT to turbo or street racer.

i've been trying different settings and havent found any differences in performance. i only have a P4 1.6A @ 2.2GHz (no hyper threading of course) and PC2700, so maybe that has something to do with it. oh yeah, i'm also benching w/ the original unreal tournament.

i have a few questions myself. i guess its been said that the (emulated) GAT on non-875 boards (i.e. 865 boards like my IS7) will only work if the CPU : DRAM ratio is 1:1. however, i'm running it 4:5 right now, and CPU-Z says performance mode is enabled. anyone care to comment on this, b/c i'm not sure if its really working or not.

There are different levels of PAT. If you search alittle in the MB forum there is a program that tells you if it fully enabled (don't remember what it was). And yes it will only be fully enabled if it is 1:1.

upon searching for it last night, i also read that GAT on the 865 boards doesn't work if you are OCing your CPU. can anyone confirm this?

It works fine as long as you are using the 1:1 ratio

I'm fairly certain it can also be fully enabled with a 5:4 ratio if the bootstrap is set to psb667. At least the various utilities report it as fully enabled.

unfortunately i only have a 1.6A (400mhz fsb) chip and PC2700 RAM. so if i OC my chip to 533fsb (4 x 133fsb), i have to use the 4:5 ratio just to get the memory to run at its stock speed of 333mhz (2 x 166fsb). yet, CPU-Z still says GAT is enabled. by the way, orion, i never found that program that tells you how enabled the GAT really is. there's just so much to search through, and i don't even think keys words are in the subject. i'm gonna start going through the official IS7/G/E thread...

That's interesting - I've been playing around with these settings and can't get GAT enabled when overclocking and a 5:4 ratio. I set the strap to PSB667 and even messed around with voltages. Can't get CPU-Z to show that GAT is enabled. I'm running Geil PC3200 (2x256 Dual Channel Enabled) at 2,3,3,5. Haven't messed with the timings much, but I don't figure that this will do me any good anyway 'cause I probably still won't get GAT enabled. So I guess the question really comes down to which setting will give best performance? P4 stock 2605Mhz (HT enabled with GAT) or 3258Mhz oc'd HT w/o GAT ??? Can't seem to see much difference, but I'll have to benchmark it - my guess is the overclock, but don't have anything to back that up yet...

anyone have experience with this? any thoughts?
