I am deciding whether i should get the Fortissimo III, Audigy 2, or the Audigy 1 for my z560s? I'm mainly into DVDs and listening to mp3s. Gaming isn't a really big deal, just CS and war3. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

does the TBSC have just as good DVD decoding as audigy 2? DTS, Dolby Digital?

Can the z560s reproduce good 5.1, surround sound?

I would not get an audigy 1, dont even consider it

As far as the other 2?

Well, it depends on your budget. I was in the same boat as you, considering the same soundcards as you are... the frotissimo or audigy 2

I game alot, so I went audigy 2

Basically, if you can afford it, buy the audigy 2, if your on a tight budget, the fortissimo is a good card

Thanks for your replies, I wanted to add. Is the TBSC good for DVDs? I am interested in features like Dolby Surround, DTS, etc. Basically surround sound.

i'm considering upgradin2 audigy2 as well, using the same spk setup as urs, pyschowu. And I'm mainly into musics & movies, will get 1 soon after I sell out audigy, basically I'd go for audigy2 as it decodes dolby digital EX by the card itself and decodes dvd-audios,if u listen to it anyway.

I have logitech z560s. I upgraded from a SB Live value oem edition (4 channel) to an Audigy 2 retail ($70 AR) and it was like night and day. The SNR and 96/24 DACs on these new soundcards make everything sound so good rivalling even home theatre receivers. Only one other consumer sound card can compete with the Audigy2 and that is the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 which retails for only $99. I havent had a chance to test this card personally but on reviews both of these are at the top as far as sound quality goes.

I would choose a card with the VIA Envy24HT chip on it. The M-Audio has it, but doesn't have the CD connectors on it. Check out the AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 that CompUSA sells for $99.

The Herc GTXP is still a good soundcard, but that's only if your are looking into custom speaker systems. The Z560's should provide surround sound with almost any other sound card. I use my GTXP to hook up to my amp for some good 7.1 sound setup. (I use the speakers on my amp). All the extra connections are kind of useless if you buy a surround sound speaker system.
