Suggestions for a 21" CRT Monitor.

Ok, so it is time for me to upgrade my monitor. So far I have been looking at either the Viewsonic G220FB or the Samsung 1100DF. Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

I just bought a Sony E540 a few weeks ago on newegg and i have no complaints at all. The price was right compared to others and has great picture and quality.

NEC FE1250+ is quite good.

1600x1200 @85Hz
ultra-flat/ultra-bright
NaviSet option (control every settings, via software)

I got it for 450$ a few months back

Anyone here used the Samsung 1100DF? I am really leaning toward that one due to its great refresh rates. How would that compare to the NEC ones?

NEC Hands down...

samsungs are shadowmasks... they do not have the contrast/vibrant colors a diamondtron/trintron monitor has... though their pros are their crispness and their true colors, which is more suitable for graphics work.. that's why viewsonic has a shadowmask in their Graphics line of monitors...

although for multimedia, aperture grill is the way to go...

I'm actually reconsidering my decision for the NEC and going with the Mitsubishi DP2070SB-BK

It's a few bucks more than the NEC eqivelant, but I remember reading in reviews that the Mitsubishi was actually of higher quality than NEC.

IIRC, it was on Tom's hardware...comparing the NEC FE1250 and the Mitsubishi 2060U (or something like that). Anyways, it was noted that the Mitsubishi was better...so since this is a very large investment, I think it's worth the extra few greens.

21"+ Monitor Review @ Tom's Hardware

EDIT: I thought it might be worth noting for those of you who don't want to click the review, just keep this in mind when choosing a 21"/22" monitor...

The effective working diagonal of the Diamond Pro 2060u is only 20 inches, so there is practically no space advantage for a 22" when compared to a 21" like the G520. Actually, this is not strictly true because the less you use the edges of the tube, the better the image is likely to be, so a 22" has a quality, not quantity, lead over a 21".

sorry to bust in but i was wondering if you knew if this viewsonic was shadmask or not?, also i am looking for a 19 in crt.

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/crt_a90fplus.htm

i can get it for 230, is it worth getting a p95f, or maybe nec?

gte343z I believe it`s a shadow mask, the Viewsonic(graphics series) G90FB is probably a better choice shawdow mask wise and I`ve seen quite a few good reviews of the G90FB, as to the P95f which is top of the line Pro series has a AG tube (Aperture grill, has those two damper wires across screen). The P95f is very good with high refresh rate compared to the others but like all things it depends on if you prefer shadow mask or AG type screen, remember some people don`t like those AG wires.

I've got a NEC fe2111sb 21" crt and love it. I was going to upgrade my video card and processor but games look so much better on this monitor that I don't feel it's necessary for awhile.

Yep, I've got a Sony G500 (the G520 is the successor) and I love it! Best computer purchase I've made...and I've made ALOT of 'em! 😉

Like what models 😛 This would mostly be for gaming. Weight doesnt matter as I've got a small but suitable 15" NEC LCD.
