You could always roll the dice on a Phenom II X2 550.
But you're probably safest with an Athlon II X4 635.

Damn, it looks like Dell Outlet is out of Inspiron 570's right now. Yesterday they had quads from $329, which is about $100 cheaper than you can put together yourself including OS.

well its seems like i have to compromise with the ram now thinking of adding only 2gb now & get a good processor then add rest of it later what say??

i had shortlisted some processors accordingly now

phenom II x4 955 be
phenom II x4 945
phenom II x4 925
phenom II x3 710

or should i consider on moving to athlon series

955 BE. Stick with 2GB for now, then add 2GB more one or two months later.

I vote 925 or 945 PHII X4 depending on budget.

definitely go BE in that case, overclocking isn't quite the piece of cake on phenoms (or nehalem for that matter) that it was on the lga 775 sockets :(:(

Welcome to Anandtech!

A Phenom quad is a Phenom quad is a Phenom quad. Here is a Phenom 945 / Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 combo for $270.

The 890gx/sb850 mobo should work well for your current and future needs, and with a BIOS update should support BD Zambezi.

The Phenom 945 quad is quite capable, and with a few simple tweaks should run 3.4-3.6GHz with the NB/IMC at 2400-2600MHz (increasing your memory bandwidth and reducing latency).

What this guy said :D

AMDRoadmap.jpg

There is an alleged AMD 'internal' chart making the rounds at XS that lists 890FX/GX AM3 chipsets for BD Zambezi compatibility with a BIOS update.

The additional benefit of conventional overclocking with a non-BE proc is that increasing the clock also boosts the speed of the IMC/NB, increasing memory bandwidth and reducing latency.

It ain't no biggie.

It's the same basic thing. Increase the bus speed until it stops working.
