Suggestion about my build

Upgrading my PC over the news 6 weeks and would appreciate any comments you fellas have

1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
Gaming, encoding bluray to x264 (usually goes overnight so speed not vital), photo editing (photoshop cs5 mainly)

2. What YOUR budget is.
£500 as a rough figure.


3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Live in the UK but can buy from US, just need to consider shipping costs

4. IF YOU have a brand preference.
No preference


5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
160gb SSD
280 GTX (will upgrade this later with the money from selling my current parts)
1TB HDD
keyboard, mouse, monitor


6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.


7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Will overclock


8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920 x 1200

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
in the next 6 weeks

I would probably save a few quid by going with DDR3 1333, but otherwise the parts look good!

What he said. When you get the money for the GPU (assuming it's in the next few months) go with the 560 or 570 on the NVidia side, or the 5950 or 5970 in AMD's neck of the woods. These cards are all within the $250-$350 range.

Thanks for the info, ill amend my list to the 1333 RAM.

The 570 looks to be a good price for the performance level im after. and seems to run a fair bit quiter than the old 480.

Most likely should, unless David has some inside contacts at AMD that can get him never-released parts!

Gah... my mistake... Indeed I meant 6950 or 6970... Damn them for their releases being so confusing...
