Suggestion about Intel Dual Socket board

I am thinking to build my PC in such way that it can be easily upgradeable. Like selecting Dual Socket board, Initially I will insert only one processor and later on when I got more money, I will insert another one. This way I will improve my performance without breaking my bank. First Question, am I correct? and if yes which suite me?

BTW I look at MSI 694D Pro AIR which has audio, IEEE1394 (what is that?) and RAID (Yeah this is another cheap way to enhance my system performance). What you guys think about that?

Go to Link for more information about your subject. I use the Iwill DVD266-R and love it. I have only had one issue and that is the USB ports dropping out after a 137fsb speed. Solved it with a PCI USB card. The MSI is a very stable board and offers decent performance, I would go with the Abit VP6 if you are looking in that range or the ECS board.
