Going to be running a:

260 GTX
i7 2.66 nehalem
6GB Corsair XMS3 12800
WD Caviar 750GB
1x DVD/CD burner

Is it possible a 650W would be sufficient?

Or is it safer to go 750W?

Any info appreciated! thanks!
 
TBH you could probably run that rig on a quality 450W PSU w/o any trouble. If it were me I'd still spec something bigger for the sake of future expansion, but if it'll never have more than 1 GPU then I doubt I'd go over 650W.
 
A good 650W will be enough with room to spare for future upgrades. You'd be hard pressed to normally pull beyond 300W with that system.
