Based on the technical support given to the vast majority of computer users on this forum, I feel that 95% of the problems people are having could be alleviated by using this simple two-step process that should *obviously* fix nearly all problems.
1) fdisk /mbr
* If step 1 does not work, attempt the more drastic approach outlined in step 2
2) format
I would appreciate if this list of steps were added to the Anandtech FAQ to assist in the prompt conclusion of most computer difficulties, it would also take a load off of the forums servers as fewer posts would be required.

I wonder how many people end up formatting their drives every day unnecessarily
I see posts out there where a person can't get their soundcard working or something and someone says, "Whoa! It must be a virus. Better format your drive!"
