I'm in Oxford tomorrow :D

I'm in London tommorow at Middle Temple.... Damn....

How long you gonna be here for?

Just a few hours, I'm doing an installation there and then in Billingshurst.
However, I'm in Twickenham and near the Thames on Wednesday :p

I'll be back to London wednesday as well at parliament.

I've spent a lot of time in England. You already know the tourist attractions, so I'll only comment re: your little kids.

The usual wonderful tourist sights won't be good for little kids so young as yours.

For them, if you go into London the Hyde Park amusements (swings, pedal boats, chase ducks around on the grass) would be fun. Take warm jackets.

Also maybe fun for little kids: riding atop 2-deck buses, tourist boat ride on the Thames, go out to Greenwich Royal Observatory & climb around the old wooden sailing ship, London Eye ferris wheel ride (maybe too scary for your kids).

Also, some of the museum-type places do a tourist thing called 'rubbings' where you pay to put paper over a gravestone and rub its design onto the paper. Your kids might like that. I think they still have that inside Westminster Abby, off to the side, & at other places too.

You can hop a train down to Brighton where your kids can see the aquarium show there and also the Royal Pavilion (for your interest, boring to kids).

They might be old enough to enjoy the wax museums in London.

Be extremely careful with your kids at rail stations because there's usually no safety guardrail between the landing where you wait and the tracks. At some places express trains barrel past the landing at high speed with an air blast, a serious danger to children.

There's a big animal park far west of London, I think southwest of Windsor. Kids would probably like that.

With little kids on a trip its best to keep on the lookout for parks to play in. Especially parks with other kids around their age to play with for a little while. Been there done that.

Also, getting little kids young as yours to eat different things than they're used to can be a challenge. Ice cream!

Legoland was mad for small children. They'll love it and it is VERY close to you.

If you do a day trip I have to suggest Brighton. It's my home town, but it's a little 'adult'... :p

I second, third and fourth that. The tube trains arriving scare the crap out of me and I walk right next to the wall because I'm petrified of being shoved in a crowd and falling on the electric tracks.

You just gotta aim for the anti-suicide pit if that happens. :)

If you're into good food, try to get a table at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants

theINQ said that random people were getting their electronics seized. I'd be careful what you travel with.

Imperial War Museum was good...make sure you go there. Get off at the Lambeth North stop on the Bakerloo line and follow the signs.

British Museum was pretty boring IMHO. It's great if you love old ancient pots and vases.

The National Army Museum or whatever it's called was kinda boring. Imperial War Museum was much better for visuals.

Natural History Museum has a gigantic room of rocks and minerals if you're into that.

Science Museum is really cool...go there if you like that kind of stuff at all.

RAF Museum is great too. Take the Northern line to the Colindale stop (IIRC, I was there 3 years ago), and walk maybe 10-15 mins. You'll have to ask for directions or follow a map once you get to the Tube station.

Covent Garden is neat if you like little botique sorta shopping

If you want real upscale shopping besides Harrods you can go to whatever is the big department store that I think starts with an S. It's just north of the Marble Arch. That store had some of the most expensive stuff I've ever seen.

Hampton Court is awesome. Go. Huge really neat looking gardens, along with the parts of the building you can go through. There are trains from Waterloo (it *might* be Victoria but I'm pretty sure it's Waterloo) that run every half hour or so and the tickets are only a couple bucks if you have a Tube pass. Don't go on a rainy day.

The Bank of England museum is kinda neat too. We only spent an hour or two but it was interesting. Lots of old money and coins, plus a real gold bar you can hold. Get off the Tube at Bank, and go out I believe exit 6 or 7. Then it's like around the corner, down a block, and take another left.

If you like exercise walk up the Monument. Good view from the top and I've never had a chance to do 300 stairs on a small spiral staircase before.
